Merrimack @ St. Francis (N.Y.)
Current Records: Merrimack 13-16; St. Francis (N.Y.) 10-18
What to Know
The St. Francis (N.Y.) Terriers are 1-4 against the Merrimack Warriors since January of 2020, but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Saturday. St. Francis (N.Y.) and Merrimack will face off in a Northeast battle at 2 p.m. ET at Peter Aquilone Court. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
The Terriers ended up a good deal behind the Bryant Bulldogs when they played on Thursday, losing 86-69. Forward Patrick Emilien had a pretty forgettable game, playing for 32 minutes but putting up just eight points on 2-for-11 shooting and four turnovers.
Meanwhile, the contest between the Warriors and the LIU Sharks on Thursday was not a total blowout, but with Merrimack falling 85-74 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one. The losing side was boosted by guard Mikey Watkins, who had 15 points and six assists in addition to five rebounds.
Barring any buzzer beaters, St. Francis (N.Y.) is expected to win a tight contest. Their home court has been no bettor's paradise, though, as they've failed to beat the spread in six of their 11 home games.
St. Francis (N.Y.) is now 10-18 while Merrimack sits at 13-16. A pair of offensive stats to keep an eye on: The Terriers have only been able to knock down 41.30% percent of their shots, which is the 36th lowest field goal percentage in college basketball. The Warriors have experienced some struggles of their own as they are 350th worst in college basketball in points per game, with only 61.1 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
