McGriff signed a 10-day deal with the Trail Blazers on Dec. 27 and averaged 15.3 minutes across three appearances before landing in COVID-19 protocols. The 24-year-old will have to clear protocols before he is eligible to sign with a new team.
McGriff is expected to miss multiple games after he entered the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols Sunday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
McGriff is in the midst of a 10-day deal with the Trail Blazers after signing with the team Dec. 27. Unless he's able to test out of the protocols early, McGriff's contract is likely to expire before he's ready to play again, so Portland may not look to re-sign him. The 24-year-old appeared in three games for the Trail Blazers, averaging 4.7 points and 5.0 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per contest.
