Why Navy can cover

Navy has a rush defense that can slow Army's ground game. The Midshipmen give up just 85.6 rushing yards per game, which ranks fourth in the country, behind only Georgia, James Madison and Michigan. Navy also gives up just 3.07 yards per rush, which is seventh in the nation.

In addition, the Midshipmen's defensive star, John Marshall, is coming off the best game of his career. The 6-foot-2, 209-pound senior linebacker from Highland, Md., had four sacks in the team's upset of Central Florida on Nov. 19, which set a program record. He is third in the FBS in tackles for loss per game (1.7) and fifth in sacks per game (0.95).

Why Army can cover

Even though they don't throw the ball often, the Black Knights are dangerous when they do. Army averages 22.3 yards per completion, which leads the country. In the team's last game, a victory over UMass, the Black Knights averaged 33.5 yards per completion.

In addition, senior quarterback Tyhier Tyler is coming off one of the best games of his career. The 5-foot-8 dynamo rushed for three touchdowns in the victory over the Minutemen, tying a career best, and averaged 9.2 yards per carry, which was the best of his career. He also directed the Army offense to six rushing touchdowns, which tied a season high.
