Bills' Terrel Bernard: Moves past ankle issue
Bernard, who missed the Bills' Jan. 21 playoff loss to the Chiefs due to an ankle injury, feels very good health-wise at this stage of the offseason, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.
Prior to suffering his injury in the Bills' wild-card win over the Steelers on Jan. 15, Bernard racked up 143 tackles, 6.5 sacks and three interceptions in 17 regular-season contests. Now that his ankle has had time to heal up, the 2022 third-rounder is set to reprise his role as Buffalo's starting middle linebacker, which puts the 24-year-old in a position to remain a viable lineup option in IDP formats this coming season.

Bills' Terrel Bernard: Inactive Sunday
Bernard (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's divisional-round playoff game against the Chiefs.
The starting middle linebacker suffered an ankle injury in the Bills' wild-card win over the Steelers and then missed practice all week. Bernard has enjoyed a breakout season in 2023, recording 143 tackles, five passes defensed, three interceptions and three fumble recoveries during the regular season. A.J. Klein made 11 tackles in Buffalo's wild-card win and should play again in Bernard's absence.

Bills' Terrel Bernard: Trending in wrong direction
Bernard (ankle) is a game-time decision for Sunday's divisional-round game against the Chiefs, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
The Bills will give Bernard a chance to go through warmups and prove he's healthy enough to play, but Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network stated that Bernard will likely sit out after missing practice all week. Bernard is a key part of this defense, as he posted 143 tackles (84 solo), 6.5 sacks, five pass breakups and three interceptions over 17 games during the regular season. A.J. Klein -- who posted 11 stops in the wild-card round -- is expected to start at middle linebacker if Bernard can't go.

Bernard (ankle) is questionable for Sunday night's game against the Chiefs.
Bernard went DNP-DNP-DNP in practice this week, though Thursday is the only day the Bills held an actual practice, as the other two were merely walkthroughs. The linebacker is believed to have suffered a sprained right ankle in last Monday's win over the Steelers. Potentially missing Bernard would be yet another significant loss for the Buffalo defense.

Bernard suffered an ankle injury in the team's wild-card win over the Steelers on Monday, and he's now opened the week on the sidelines for Buffalo's first two practice sessions of the week, though the first one was a walkthrough. Bernard was carted off the field in the third quarter and underwent X-rays on his right ankle, the results of which are currently undisclosed. With Buffalo set to host the Chiefs on Sunday in the divisional round, Bernard's status is worth monitoring.

Bernard is believed to have suffered a right ankle sprain in Monday's wild-card win over Pittsburgh and will have an MRI on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Bernard was hurt in the third quarter of Monday's playoff contest and had to be carted off the field. X-rays came back negative, but more could be learned about the injury through Tuesday's MRI. Fellow linebacker Baylon Spector (back) also departed with an injury Monday, and Tyrel Dodson was inactive due to a shoulder issue, so Buffalo could potentially be very thin at the position in the divisional round of the playoffs next weekend.

The Bills have been playing inspired football, winning five in a row to end the regular season to go with a comfortable first-half lead against Pittsburgh, but the injuries continue to amount for the team, especially on defense. Bernard, who has been a key player all season following the offseason departure of long-time middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, looked to be in significant pain prior to leaving, so his status for the rest of the playoffs appears murky at this point.
