Giants' Camilo Doval: Earns four-out save
Doval picked up the save Monday, allowing one hit and no walks with two strikeouts across 1.1 scoreless innings. Doval retired four of the five batters he faced Monday to earn his second save of the campaign. After racking up 39 saves a season ago, Doval has only seen two save chances and has only made four appearances this far. However, he'll likely have opportunities to enhance those numbers with two more games coming against the 3-14 Marlins and a four-game series against the Diamondbacks left this week.... See More ... Giants' Camilo Doval: Earns first save
Doval allowed one hit in a scoreless inning and punched out three batters to earn a save over the Padres on Sunday. Doval coughed up a two-out single but had no trouble slamming the door to secure the 3-2 win. It was his second straight scoreless appearance and his first save of the 2024 campaign. He got four whiffs on 11 swings and now owns a 5:2 K:BB through 2.2 frames.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Camilo Doval: Collects first win
Doval (1-0) picked up the win Friday, giving up a hit and a walk while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning during a 3-2 victory over the Padres. The Giants' closer came on in a 2-2 tie at home, so he had no chance at a save, but Doval took care of business in the top of the ninth and got rewarded when Thairo Estrada walked it off with a double in the bottom of the frame. After racking up 66 saves over the prior two seasons, Doval is still looking for his first save of 2024.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Camilo Doval: Remains best closing option
Doval has allowed a hit and a walk while striking out three over two scoreless innings in Cactus League play. The Giants did some minor retooling in the bullpen, but not to a level that would threaten Doval's job security as closer. He had 39 saves in 47 chances last season while pitching to a 2.93 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 87:26 K:BB over 67.2 innings. Doval will be supported by Taylor Rogers and Tyler Rogers primarily in the late innings, while Amir Garrett could also be a factor if he finds consistency with the Giants, though he is on a minor-league deal this spring.... Giants' Camilo Doval: Locks down 39th save
Doval allowed a hit and struck out one over one scoreless inning to earn the save in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Dodgers. The 26-year-old is at a 2.86 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 82:25 K:BB with 37 saves in 44 chances over 63 innings this season.... See More ... See Less -

Save chances have been sparse for Doval lately, with Friday's victory being San Francisco's first win in September. The right-hander is 36-for-43 in save chances with a 3.03 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 80:24 K:BB over 59.1 innings this year.... See More ... See Less -

Doval has pitched perfect innings on consecutive days to earn saves, bouncing back from a stretch of four straight blown saves over the middle of the month. The right-hander is now 35-for-42 in save chances this year. Closers with poorer results than Doval might have lost their gigs, but manager Gabe Kapler stuck by the hard-throwing reliever, who has a 2.98 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 77:24 K:BB through 57.1 innings this season.... Giants' Camilo Doval: Earns win after blown save
Doval (4-3) got the win over the Rangers in an extra inning Sunday, but he allowed an unearned run on two hits and a walk and struck out one in 1.1 innings. Giants starter Logan Webb was one out away from a complete-game shutout Sunday, but manager Gabe Kapler would not take his chances and called upon Doval to close things out after Webb allowed a two-out double. Doval got what he thought was a game-ending groundball, but Ezequiel Duran beat the throw from Brandon Crawford and the run scored to force an extra inning. Doval worked through some trouble in the extra frame as well and allowed the Rangers to take the lead after he balked home a run following a leadoff single. The 25-year-old was bailed out in the bottom half of the frame after the Giants walked it off and awarded him his second win since the All-Star break. Doval now has two saves and a win in four appearances this month and sits at a 2.36 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 33 saves in 53 games on the year.... See More ... See Less -

Doval pitched a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks. Doval was efficient, throwing eight pitches (six strikes) in the outing. Doval (3-3) allowed two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out one over one inning, taking a blown save but picking up the win Saturday versus the Red Sox. Doval gave up a two-run, game-tying single to Justin Turner in the top of the ninth inning, but J.D. Davis's walk-off solo home run lifted the Giants to the win. Doval had pitched seven consecutive scoreless innings entering Saturday. Despite the misstep, the closer has a 2.68 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 63:19 K:BB through 47 innings while converting 31 of 34 save chances this season.... See More ... See Less -
