Weissert (0-1) was charged with the loss against the Angels on Saturday. He allowed two unearned runs on one hit and one walk while striking out one over 1.1 innings. Weissert maintained a streak of five appearances without allowing an earned run but was victimized by shaky infield defense behind him. The right-hander has allowed three hits and two walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings.... See More ... See Less

Red Sox's Greg Weissert: Secures roster spot
Weissert will make the 2024 Opening Day roster, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports. Weissert was in danger of being left off the roster as long as Brennan Bernardino was projected to begin the year in the bullpen, but skipper Alex Cora stated Tuesday that Weissert had made the team over Bernardino, who was optioned to Triple-A Worcester. Weissert appeared in 17 games a season ago for the Yankees, posting a 4.05 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with 22 punchouts across 20 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Greg Weissert: Throws scoreless frame
Weissert struck out one over a hitless and scoreless relief inning in Wednesday's spring game against the Yankees. Weissert, who was acquired from the Yankees in the Alex Verdugo trade, has allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out seven over 5.2 Grapefruit League innings. There are few moving parts as the Red Sox evaluate bullpen arms, and Weissert appears to be on the bubble at this stage. He was added to the bullpen in a roster projection compiled by Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald, who noted Zack Kelly, Chris Murphy, Joe Jacques, Joely Rodriguez and Lucas Luetge as possibilities.... Yankees' Greg Weissert: Recalled from Triple-A
Weissert was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday. Weissert will provide the Yankees with a fresh relief arm as they begin a series this weekend against the rival Red Sox. He holds a 3.60 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 20 relief innings this season in the majors.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Greg Weissert: Promoted for twin bill
Weissert was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday to serve as the 27th man for the doubleheader against the Red Sox. Weissert already has had two brief stints in the majors this season and has allowed three earned runs with a 5:5 K:BB across 5.1 innings. The 28-year-old will provide bullpen depth for the twin bill before likely returning to the minors.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Greg Weissert: Sent back to Triple-A
Weissert was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following Tuesday's 10-5 win over the Athletics. Weissert was with the Yankees for only one day after being called up from Triple-A on Tuesday, and he allowed two runs over an inning of relief with a walk and two strikeouts in his lone appearance. The Yankees will announce a corresponding move prior to Wednesday's series finale with Oakland.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Greg Weissert: Moves down to minors
The Yankees optioned Weissert to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports. Weissert threw 39 pitches in relief in the Yankees' loss to the Twins on Monday and probably wasn't going to be available for a few days. The Yankees called up Nick Ramirez from Triple-A to replace Weissert on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Greg Weissert: Promoted to big leagues
Weissert was recalled by the Yankees on Friday. Weissert appeared in 12 games for the Yankees last season, surrendering seven earned runs across 11.1 innings out of the bullpen. He's gotten off to a much better start this year with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (1.69 ERA, 0.39 WHIP, 5.1 IP) and will look to provide New York's bullpen with some reinforcements. Colten Brewer was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Greg Weissert: Optioned to Triple-A
The Yankees optioned Weissert to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports. The 28-year-old was one of the last cuts as he came up just shy of making the Opening Day bullpen. Weissert doesn't have anything left to prove in the minors and could be the first reliever summoned when one is needed.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Greg Weissert: Heads back to minors
The Yankees returned Weissert to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday. Weissert had been up with the Yankees as their 29th man for Tuesday's doubleheader with the Rangers. He picked up his second career hold while striking out a batter in a scoreless frame in the Yankees' 5-4 win in Game 1. The 27-year-old righty will finish his rookie season with a 5.56 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB across 11.1 innings out of the New York bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Greg Weissert: Up as extra man
Weissert was recalled Tuesday to serve as the 29th man for the doubleheader against the Rangers. The 27-year-old received his first taste of big-league action this season and has largely failed to impress. In 10.1 innings, he owns a 6.10 ERA, though his 1.06 WHIP is an encouraging mark.... Yankees' Greg Weissert: Returns to minors
Weissert was optioned down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following the Yankees' victory over Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Weissert made 11 appearances for the Yankees during which he recorded a 6.10 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over 10.1 innings. The move frees up a spot on the Yankees' big-league roster, leaving room for Scott Effross to be activated Thursday.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Greg Weissert: Wild in big-league debut
Weissert allowed three runs on two walks while hitting two batters over one-third of an inning against Oakland on Thursday. Weissert was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday and was summoned from the bullpen with the Yankees up big in the seventh inning. His first outing as a major-leaguer didn't go well, as he threw only five of 15 pitches for strikes and hit two batters in addition to issuing two free passes while recording only one out. Nerves likely came into play, but Weissert has had some control issues in the minors this season, registering a 3.7 BB/9 and hitting five batters over 46 innings. He was able to overcome that to post a 1.76 ERA and 0.89 WHIP, however.... See More ... See Less
