  • Commanders' Michael Davis: Inking in Washington

The Commanders and Davis agreed to terms on a contract Monday, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. Davis provides Washington with an experienced cornerback to help replace the void left by Kendall Fuller, who recently inked a deal with the Dolphins. The 29-year-old is coming off a mixed 2023 campaign in which he was benched at multiple points and allowed a career-high 13.8 yards per completion and 9.0 yards per target, as Rhim notes. He could compete for starting snaps with Benjamin St-Juste, while 2023 first-round pick Emmanuel Forbes will likely get another crack at a No. 1 role.

  • Chargers' Michael Davis: Logs another start, posts six stops

Davis tallied six tackles (five solo) in Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Broncos. After working exclusively on special teams in Weeks 12 and 13, Davis has since started each of Los Angeles' past four contests. His six stops Sunday were fifth-most on the team and tied for his highest mark since he made eight tackles against Las Vegas in Week 4. Davis' performance Sunday pushed his season tackle total to 62, two shy of the career-best mark he set in 2020.

  • Chargers' Michael Davis: Solid performance in win

Davis recorded eight tackles (all solo) in Sunday's 24-17 win over Las Vegas. The 28-year-old was the second leading tackler for Los Angeles this past Sunday, trailing only Khalil Mack. He's now one tackle short of being the team's leader on the year, recording 25 tackles and three pass breakups through the first four weeks. Davis has been a solid corner in the Chargers' secondary that has struggled this year, giving up over 329 passing yards per game, ranking dead last in the NFL.

  • Chargers' Michael Davis: In action for OTAs

Davis participated in the first of the Chargers' 10 voluntary OTAs on Monday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Davis suffered a pectoral injury in the Chargers' wild-card loss to the Jaguars last season and was unable to return to the game. However, the cornerback appears to be fully recovered from the issue as he is participating in OTAs this week. As long as he remains healthy, Davis should have a significant role in the team's secondary for the 2023 campaign.

  • Chargers' Michael Davis: Ready to roll Sunday

Davis (knee) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Davis picked up an apparent knee injury during practice this week, but it ultimately isn't severe enough to sideline him for the Chargers' Week 12 matchup in Arizona. The 27-year-old should continue operating in his usual every-down cornerback role opposite of Asante Samuel.

  • Chargers' Michael Davis: Week 12 status up in the air

Davis (knee) is listed as questionable to play Sunday against the Cardinals, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports. Davis picked up a knee injury while defending a pass during practice, leaving him limited during Thursday's and Friday's sessions, according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic. While the severity of the issue is still unclear, Chargers coach Brandon Staley said he still expects the cornerback to play in Sunday's game versus Arizona, per Popper. Davis has recorded 16 tackles and one pass defended after stepping into a starting role over the past three games, and his absence would likely leave Bryce Callahan to slot in opposite cornerback Asante Samuel in Week 12.

  • Chargers' Michael Davis: Will not play Sunday

Davis (hamstring) is inactive Sunday against the Vikings. Davis was unable to practice all week, so this is not surprising news. In his place, Asante Samuel and Tevaughn Campbell will be in line for an increased workload.

  • Chargers' Michael Davis: Downgraded to out

Davis (hamstring) has been downgraded to out and won't return Sunday against New England. Davis left Sunday's game early and wasn't able to recover in time to return, so the Chargers will have their depth tested in terms of the secondary. Expect Tevaughn Campbell to handle most of the Davis' snaps opposite to Chris Harris.

  • Chargers' Michael Davis: Leaves early Sunday

Davis is questionable to return to Sunday's game with a hamstring injury, Joe Reedy of the Associated Press reports. Davis had taken on a depth role since Chris Harris had returned to the lineup. Tevaughn Campbell will likely see extra playing time until the 26-year-old can return.

  • Chargers' Michael Davis: Back to 53-man roster

Davis (suspension) had his roster exemption lifted Wednesday and is back on the 53-man roster, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. The 24-year-old will reclaim his starting role at cornerback after the two-game ban. Brandon Facyson filled in well during Davis' absence and will still receive some opportunities, according to coach Anthony Lynn.

  • Chargers' Michael Davis: Full participant Thursday

Davis (hamstring) practiced fully Thursday. Davis was limited in Wednesday's practice, so his full participation Thursday bodes very well for his status for Sunday's matchup with Miami. The 24-year-old has been sidelined since the season opener with the hamstring issue.

  • Chargers' Michael Davis: Doubtful for Week 2

Davis (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game versus the Lions. Davis suffered this injury during the season opener versus the Colts after just five snaps and didn't return. Davis didn't participate in practice all week, either, confirming it's unlikely he plays in Sunday's contest. The Chargers are clearly hindered at cornerback, as starter Trevor Williams (quadriceps) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday. Expect Brandon Facyson and Desmond King to see heavy usage if Davis sits out.
