  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Standing continues to improve

Shakir faces a clearer path to targets in 2024 after the Bills traded Stefon Diggs to the Texans on Wednesday, just a few weeks after Gabe Davis signed as a free agent with the Jaguars. One would think Bills general manager Brandon Beane has a second move up his sleeve following Wednesday's blockbuster deal, plus Buffalo will almost certainly select one or two wide receivers toward the top of their draft. For the time being, though, Shakir and newcomer Curtis Samuel are the team's top two receivers. Shakir, who is heading into his third NFL season, is coming off a 2023 campaign in which he produced a 39-611-2 receiving line over 17 regular-season games. His fantasy prospects continue to trend upward, especially with Josh Allen's strong arm delivering him the ball.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Catches team's only receiving TD

Shakir hauled in seven of nine targets for 44 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-24 playoff loss to the Chiefs. Shakir got the start in place of the injured Gabe Davis (knee) and wound up having to briefly leave Sunday's playoff tilt with an injury of his own. The second-year wideout recovered quickly from his shoulder issue and finished the spot start as the Bills' top producer while leading his club in targets. Shakir finished a solid sophomore campaign (39/611/2 in the regular season) with a strong postseason receiving line of 10/75/2 across two playoff games. Buffalo has a decision to make on the aforementioned Davis this upcoming offseason, and Shakir's fine work as the Bills' slot man in 2023 could earn him more work alongside No. 1 wideout Stefon Diggs next season.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Returns to game

Shakir (shoulder) has returned to Sunday's divisional-round game against Kansas City, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports. Shakir sustained a shoulder injury early in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game but was cleared to return to action a few minutes later. He could continue to see a slight uptick in work since Gabe Davis (knee) is unavailable Sunday.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Chance to shine

Shakir's teammate Gabe Davis has been ruled out of Sunday's playoff opener against the Steelers due to a knee injury. Shakir is coming off a fantastic game with six catches for 105 yards and will reprise the role of No. 2 wideout under top dog Stefon Diggs. There's a good chance Shakir will receive a healthy number of targets Sunday, though that comes with two caveats -- one is that the Bills always spread the ball around even when key players are hurt, the other being the weather forecast is calling for ugly, windy weather all afternoon.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Steps up in division-clinching game

Shakir caught all six of his targets for 105 yards in Sunday's 21-14 victory over the Dolphins. Gabe Davis left the game with a sprained PCL, but the Buffalo offense didn't miss a beat as Shakir stepped up. He finishes his second regular season with a 39-611-2 line, cementing himself as the clear No. 3 on the team -- not bad for a fifth-round pick. Shakir will be asked to handle No. 2 wideout duties behind Stefon Diggs if Davis isn't healthy in time for Sunday's playoff opener against the Steelers.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Modest role in important win

Shakir caught all four of his targets for 39 yards and carried once for 10 yards in Sunday's 27-21 win over the Patriots. Since posting three catches for 115 yards and a touchdown in Week 11, Shakir hasn't topped 47 receiving yards in the ensuing five games and remains a fantasy option only in deep leagues while he's stuck in an offense with many mouths to feed. With the Bills possibly having everything on the line for a playoff spot Sunday against the Dolphins and at the very least having important seeding at stake, Shakir doesn't project to see an expanded role while Buffalo has all its key players suit up. On a brighter note for his longer-term outlook, Shakir has firmly cemented himself as the team's No. 3 wideout in just his second NFL season.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Narrowly misses out on TD

Shakir recorded three catches on three targets for 45 yards in Saturday's 24-22 win over the Chargers. Shakir has found opportunity hard to come by with both Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox healthy, as he entered Saturday's win with only one target in each of his last two games. He still had limited volume against the Chargers, but he had three impactful gains of 16, 15 and 14 yards. It originally appeared that Shakir scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to put the Bills ahead, though he was ruled down by contact. While it was a solid performance, Shakir will remain a peripheral option in Buffalo's offense to close the regular season.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Reels in one catch

Shakir caught his only target for 12 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Chiefs. Shakir played 61 percent of the Bills' offensive snaps in the contest, operating as Buffalo's No. 3 wideout behind Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. The 23-year-old wideout saw his opportunities decrease Sunday, as he recorded just one target for the first time since Week 6. Shakir isn't seeing enough meaningful work in the Bills' passing attack to make him a reliable option for fantasy. He'll look to be more involved in what could be a shootout when the Bills host the Cowboys in Week 15.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Stashes (WR Preview)

You can't start Shakir this week based on one monster play, but you can add him and hope that the big play will convince the coaching staff to increase his role in the passing game.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Week 12 Waiver Priority List

Shakir had three catches for 115 yards and a touchdown on four targets against the Jets in Week 11, and he now has at least 15.2 PPR points in two of his past four games. We'll see if he can sustain this level of play moving forward, and the Bills have a great matchup in Week 12 against the Eagles. You know Stefon Diggs and Dalton Kincaid remain the priority in the passing game, and Gabe Davis is in the mix as well. But Shakir is a good stash candidate to see what develops since his big game came in the first outing under new offensive coordinator Joe Brady. Shakir is worth adding for 1 percent of your FAB.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Career-best performance Sunday

Shakir caught three of four targets for 115 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 32-6 win over the Jets. Most of the yardage came on Shakir's 81-yard TD midway through the third quarter, and the second-year wideout produced his first career 100-yard game while scoring his third career NFL touchdown and first since Week 2. It was an encouraging initial performance under new offensive coordinator Joe Brady, but Shakir has still seen more than four targets in a game only once this season, and until that volume increases he'll be tough to rely on in shallower fantasy formats.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Solid complementary numbers in loss

Shakir brought in all four targets for 57 yards and returned one kickoff for 27 yards in the Bills' 24-18 loss to the Bengals on Sunday night. Shakir finished third on Buffalo in receiving yards on the night and tied James Cook for the same slotting in receptions and targets, making it a solid encore to his career-best 6-92 line in the Week 8 win over the Buccaneers. Shakir notably had a much bigger role in the air attack Sunday than No. 2 receiver Gabe Davis, who didn't gather in either of his two targets. Nevertheless, Shakir figures to remain in the No. 3 role, at least on the depth chart, in a Week 10 Monday night home matchup against the Broncos on Nov. 13.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Career-best showing Thursday

Shakir brought in all six targets for 92 yards and returned one kickoff for nine yards in the Bills' 24-18 win over the Buccaneers on Thursday night. The speedy second-year wideout was the surprise leader in receiving yards on the night for the Bills, and that total, along with his reception tally, were both career highs. Shakir's involvement in the air attack has shot up over the last two contests, as he's produced a 10-127 line on 10 targets in that span after heading into it with just four grabs for 40 yards on the season. Shakir has a good chance of remaining similarly involved in what should be a very competitive Week 9 road matchup against the Bengals on Sunday night, Nov. 5.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Best game of 2023 season

Shakir caught all four targets for 35 yards in Buffalo's 29-25 loss to the Patriots on Sunday. This was the first time all season Shakir has caught more than one ball in a game, so there's still a long way to go for him to offer fantasy value. He saw action on 36 percent of the offensive plays compared to 27 percent for receiver teammate Deonte Harty and 23 percent for Trent Sherfield. Perhaps one of those players will see more involvement in the passing game now that tight end Dawson Knox is set to miss time with a wrist injury, though most of that overflow should head toward rookie TE Dalton Kincaid.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Dealing with head injury

Shakir is being evaluated for a head injury and is uncertain to return to Sunday's game against the Dolphins. Shakir went into halftime with a potential head injury and his status for the rest of the game is now in question. More information on Shakir will likely come when the third quarter starts.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Not slated to play Saturday

Shakir (ribs) is not in line to play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Bears, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports. Shakir will now focus on recovering from his rib injury in time for Week 1 action. Once he's back in the mix, the 2022 fifth-rounder will continue to compete with Trent Sherfield and Deonte Harty for slotting behind Buffalo's top WR duo of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Remains sidelined

Shakir (ribs) won't practice Thursday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports. With Shakir dealing with a rib issue, the 2022 fifth-rounder could be held out of Saturday's preseason finale against the Bears. Once Shakir is back in action, he'll continue to compete with Trent Sherfield and Deonte Harty for slotting behind the Bills' clear-cut top WR duo of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Shining in spring practices

Shakir has been impressive at spring practices, making his case for a regular role in three-wide formations, Mark Gaughan of The Buffalo News reports. The 2022 fifth-round pick had only 10 receptions during the regular season last year, mostly operating as Buffalo's No. 4 receiver, before coming on strong in the playoffs with five catches for 91 yards over two games. Shakir enters his second season with a nice chance to claim the third receiver spot, albeit in an offense that rarely took WRs Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis off the field last year and may now use more multi-TE formations after adding first-round pick Dalton Kincaid. The Bills also added veteran WRs Deonte Harty and Trent Sherfield this spring to give Shakir some competition for playing time that previously went to the departed Isaiah McKenzie, who drew 63 targets last year while taking nearly three-fourths of his snaps in the slot.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Makes first-year strides

Shakir finished the regular season with 10 catches for 161 yards and a TD catch over 14 games. Shakir was pretty far down the pecking order in a potent offense, but he did well as a fifth-round rookie just to be part of a veteran team's rotation. He even appeared in both playoff games and had 40-plus receiving yards in each. While the Bills will have some changes this offseason, most of the receiving room should remain intact and there could be added competition if veterans Cole Beasley and Jamison Crowder return. Still, Shakir may have more athletic talent than anyone in the team's passing game outside of Stefon Diggs, so his career arc merits watching.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Will not practice Sunday

Shakir (illness) won't practice Sunday, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports. Shakir will be absent for the start of the Bills' work week as they prepare to play the Patriots on Thursday. The rookie receiver has seen his role increase as Jamison Crowder and Jake Kumerow continue to miss time due to ankle injuries. Shakir most recently played 45 percent of the team's offensive snaps Thanksgiving, but he failed to see any targets, and he hasn't recorded a catch since Week 10 against the Vikings, then Week 6 against the Chiefs before that. He'll continue working to grab a larger target share Thursday against the New England, if he can recover in time to play.
