At this point, Allen is expected to be part of New Jersey's goalie tandem in 2024-25, especially with Montreal retaining 50 percent of his $3.85 million salary.

  • Devils' Jake Allen: Thrust into duty after injury

Allen allowed one goal on 30 shots in Sunday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Predators. After starter Kaapo Kahkonen let in a goal and exited the game just 8:39 into the first frame, Allen filled in between the pipes and gave his team a chance for the win all night. The only puck that got past him prior to the shootout came on a third-period Nashville power play. Allen has only two wins in his last six games and has allowed 20 goals over that span. With only four games left on the schedule and the Devils four points out of a playoff spot, their playoff prospects are looking dim, and Tuesday's difficult home matchup against Toronto may not help matters.
