Andersen allowed three goals on 12 shots in Monday's 5-3 victory over the Islanders in Game 2. Andersen found himself down 3-0 after Anders Lee's power-play goal early in the second period. However, the Hurricanes would rally with four goals in the final frame while the Islanders could only muster one shot in the period as Carolina took a 2-0 lead in the series. The 34-year-old Andersen has won 11 of his last 12 starts dating back to the regular season, though Monday was the first time he got a consecutive start since his fourth-month stint on injured reserve. It remains to be seen if Andersen or Pyotr Kochetkov will get the call for Thursday's Game 3 in New York.... See More ... See Less

Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Defending crease in Game 2
Andersen will patrol the home crease in Game 2 against the Islanders on Monday, per Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site. Andersen will make consecutive starts for the first time since returning from a blood clotting issue in early March. He has surrendered two goals or fewer in 10 of 11 outings during that span, including Saturday's 3-1 win over the Islanders to begin the 2024 playoffs.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Cruises to Game 1 win
Andersen stopped 33 of 34 shots in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Islanders in Game 1. Andersen had a fairly easy time between the pipes, continuing his success from late in the regular season. He's won three contests in a row and 10 of his last 11 outings since he returned from a blood clotting issue at the start of March. Head coach Rod Brind'Amour rotated between Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov down the stretch, but it's unclear at this time if that pattern will continue during the playoffs, as it may have been designed to keep Andersen from being overworked before the postseason. Game 2 is Monday in Raleigh.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Starting playoff opener
Andersen will patrol the home crease in Game 1 against the Islanders on Saturday, per Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site. Andersen earned a 13-2-0 record with a 1.84 GAA and a .932 save percentage in 16 appearances during the regular season. After returning to the lineup from a blood clotting issue, he went 9-1-0 with a .951 save percentage. The Islanders placed 22nd in the league with 2.99 goals per contest during the 2023-24 campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Ready for postseason
Andersen was back on the ice Thursday in the lead-up to Saturday's Game 1 matchup with the Islanders, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Andersen was in the starter's crease at Thursday's practice session, suggesting he'll get the starting nod for Saturday's home clash versus the Islanders. The backstop had been splitting the workload with Pyotr Kochetkov down the stretch but it seems unlikely that trend will continue into the postseason.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Resting for season finale
Andersen (rest) will get the night off Tuesday versus Columbus, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Andersen will be just one of eight key players that will get the night off for the Hurricanes. Andersen, who's gone 9-1-0 while posting an exceptional 1.30 GAA and .951 save percentage through 10 appearances since returning from a blood clotting issue in March, will almost certainly get the starting nod for Game 1 of Carolina's first-round playoff series.... Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Back in win column Friday
Andersen made 29 saves in Friday's 5-2 win over the Blues. St. Louis twice grabbed a one-goal lead, but Andersen shut the door after the second one early in the second period and the Hurricanes came roaring back. The veteran netminder has been almost unbeatable since returning to action a little over a month ago, going 9-1-0 in 10 starts with a 1.30 GAA and .951 save percentage. His performance has been one of the big reasons why Carolina is still in the hunt for the top seed in the Eastern Conference -- the 'Canes sit one point back of the Rangers, with each team having two games left on their schedule.... Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Tending twine Friday
Andersen will get the starting nod in St. Louis on Friday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Since his return from injury March 7, Andersen has alternated starts with Pyotr Kochetkov. It's worked well for Andersen, who's registered a stellar .954 save percentage while coughing up just 11 goals during that nine-game stretch. The veteran netminder hasn't lost on the road since before his absence. Andersen owns a 1.83 GAA through 15 game this season.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Guarding cage Sunday
Andersen will get the starting nod at home against Columbus on Sunday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Andersen was 7-0-0 since returning from his 50-game absence before yielding three goals in a loss to Boston on Thursday. Still, he owns a terrific 1.38 GAA and .949 save percentage in eight games since his return. The veteran netminder continues to alternate starts with Pyotr Kochetkov, likely in an attempt to keep Andersen fresh for the postseason.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Bounced by Boston
Andersen stopped 24 of 27 shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Bruins, with Boston's final goal getting scored into an empty net. All three goals against Andersen came in the first 10:46 of the first period, and while the veteran netminder gave his squad a chance to mount a comeback, the Carolina offense didn't have much luck against Jeremy Swayman. It's Andersen's first loss since returning to the lineup a month ago, and in eight starts since the beginning of March he's posted a dazzling 1.38 GAA and .949 save percentage.... See More ... Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Between pipes Thursday
Andersen will tend the twine at home versus the Bruins on Thursday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Andersen is riding a seven-game winning streak since returning from a blood clotting issue. The veteran netminder is sporting a fantastic 1.14 GAA and .957 save percentage over that stretch. Despite Andersen continuing to rack up wins, coach Rod Brind'Amour continues to stick to a goalie rotation that figures to see Pyotr Kochetkov in the crease Friday against Washington.... See More ... Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Seventh straight win
Andersen made 24 saves in a 4-0 win over Detroit on Thursday. It was Andersen's second shutout of the season and his 26th in the NHL. He has won every start (seven) since his return March 7 after missing 50 games with a blood clotting issue. The win clinched a playoff berth for the Hurricanes for the sixth consecutive season. Overall, Andersen is 11-1-0 with two shutouts, a 1.88 GAA and a .930 save percentage.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Slated to face Red Wings
Andersen is set to play at home against Detroit on Thursday, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports. Andersen is on a six-game winning streak in which he's allowed just eight goals on 163 shots (.951 save percentage). He's 10-1-0 with a 2.05 GAA and a .925 save percentage in 12 outings overall. Detroit has won only three of its last 13 contests, so this is a favorable matchup for Andersen.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Wins sixth straight
Andersen stopped 32 of 33 shots in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Maple Leafs. A Nick Robertson tally midway through the third period was the only blemish on Andersen's ledger as the 34-year-old netminder picked up his sixth straight win since returning from a fourth-month stint on IR. Andersen's yet to allow more than two goals in a game during that span. Overall, he's 10-1-0 with a .924 save percentage and 2.05 GAA. Pyotr Kochetkov will likely start Tuesday's game in Pittsburgh, lining Andersen up for a home matchup with the Red Wings on Thursday.... See More ... See Less -

Andersen has stopped 123 of 130 shots for a .946 save percentage during his five-game winning streak. In 11 appearances this season, he has supplied a 9-1-0 record with a 2.15 GAA and a .919 save percentage. The Maple Leafs rank second in the league with 3.65 goals per contest this season.... Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Hot streak continues
Andersen made 30 saves in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Flyers. The 34-year-old netminder has been spectacular since returning from a four-month absence due to a blood clotting issue. Andersen has won five straight starts in March, not allowing more than two goals in any of them en route to a 1.40 GAA and .946 save percentage. With Pyotr Kochetkov also playing well, the Hurricanes aren't likely to disrupt the timeshare between the duo as they try to chase down the Bruins, Rangers and Panthers for the best record in the Eastern Conference.... Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Starting Thursday
Andersen will be in the home crease versus Philadelphia on Thursday. Andersen has won four straight games since returning to action Mar. 7 after missing 50 games with a blood clotting issue. Andersen is 8-1-0 with a 2.17 GAA and a .917 save percentage this season. The Flyers are averaging 2.93 goals, 22nd in the NHL.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Sharp in fourth straight win
Andersen stopped 30 of 32 shots in a 7-2 win over Ottawa on Sunday. Andersen didn't have to do much behind Carolina's seven-goal outburst but was solid again Sunday. He has won each of his four starts since returning from IR while allowing two goals or fewer in each outing. Overall, the 34-year-old netminder is 8-1-0 this season with a .917 save percentage and 2.17 GAA. While he continues to split time with Pyotr Kochetkov in net, Andersen could be playing his way back into a clear starting job down the stretch.... See More ... See Less -

Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Posts first shutout of season
Andersen made 21 saves in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Panthers. In his third start since returning from a blood clotting issue that cost him four months of the season, Andersen delivered his first shutout in just over a calendar year. The 34-year-old netminder has won three straight outings since rejoining the Hurricanes while posting a .955 save percentage, but with Pyotr Kochetkov also playing extremely well (1.90 GAA and .932 save percentage since the All-Star break), the duo will likely remain in a timeshare....
