  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Injury won't impact summer training

Thompson (lower body) is expected to be available for training camp in the fall after being injured in Monday's season finale against Tampa Bay, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports. Thompson won't be an option for Team USA at the 2024 IIHF World Championship, but the injury won't impact his offseason training. The 26-year-old forward accounted for 29 goals, 56 points, 246 shots on net and 79 hits in 71 games during the 2023-24 campaign.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Injured Monday

Thompson (lower body) will not return to Monday's game against Tampa Bay. Thompson recorded just one shot in 3:11 of ice time before leaving Monday's game. It was the Sabres final game of the 2023-24 campaign, so the 26-year-old will end the season with 29 goals and 56 points through 71 appearances. The team should have an update on the severity of his injury, but he'll have the whole offseason to heal.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Two-point effort against Philly

Thompson produced a goal and an assist in Friday's 4-2 win over the Flyers. The 26-year-old center opened the scoring midway through the first period, putting a slick move on Ivan Fedotov to beat the Russian in his first NHL start. Thompson has delivered six multi-point performances in the last 12 games as Buffalo tries to steal a playoff spot, racking up nine goals and 18 points over that stretch.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Three points in Tuesday's win

Thompson scored a goal and added two assists, one on the power play, in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Capitals. The Sabres' top line dominated all night as Thompson, Alex Tuch and John-Jason Peterka combined for four goals and nine points. Thompson has rediscovered his 2022-23 form, although it may be too late to get Buffalo into the playoffs. Over the last 11 games, he's erupted for eight goals and 16 points. The 26-year-old center needs three more goals in the Sabres' last six games to reach 30 for the third straight season.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Powers comeback with four goals

Thompson scored four times on six shots, added five hits and went plus-3 in Friday's 5-2 win over the Devils. Thompson was just about all of the Sabres' offense Friday. He erased a 2-0 deficit in the second period, then added a go-ahead goal and an empty-netter in the third to finish off an excellent performance. It's not the best game of his career -- he had a five-goal effort Dec. 7, 2022 versus the Blue Jackets -- but it was easily Thompson's best game this season. He's up to 26 goals, 49 points, 226 shots on net, 72 hits and a minus-3 rating through 63 appearances.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Point streak at five games

Thompson had a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Flames. Thompson extended his point streak to five games. With three goals and seven points in this stretch, Thompson has looked more like the player that produced 38 goals and 68 points in 2021-22 before following that up with a 47-goal, 94-point campaign last season. This season, he has 22 goals and 45 points.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Garners late assist

Thompson notched an assist, three shots on goal and two hits in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Canucks. Thompson set up the second of Rasmus Dahlin's goals, which came with 22 seconds left in the game. With three goals and four assists over his last six outings, Thompson is surging and giving the Sabres a chance to compete for a playoff spot. The 26-year-old forward is up to 42 points, 210 shots on net, 62 hits and a minus-8 rating through 59 outings. Compared to his 94-point campaign from last season, he's been a significant disappointment in fantasy this year, but he's still a top-six forward that can make a heavy impact.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: One of each Monday

Thompson scored a goal on five shots, added an assist, went plus-2 and logged three hits in Monday's 6-2 win over the Kraken. Thompson has three goals and three helpers over his last five outings since a one-game absence with an upper-body injury. He tied the game at 1-1 just 49 seconds into the first period and set up Alex Tuch later in the frame for what ended up being the game-winner. Thompson is up to 21 tallies, 41 points, 207 shots on net, 60 hits and a minus-9 rating through 58 appearances. He'll fall well short of his last two campaigns, but his top-line role continues to make him an interesting option in fantasy.

Thompson notched two assists while adding three shots on net and a plus-4 rating in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Red Wings. He helped set up second-period tallies by Connor Clifton and Bowen Byram as the Sabres built a 6-1 lead before the game was half over. • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Pots PP goal against Edmonton

Thompson scored a power-play goal and also beat Stuart Skinner in the shootout during Saturday's 3-2 win over the Oilers. With the Sabres down 2-0 in the first period, Thompson banged home a rebound while sliding on one knee to get his team on the board. The 26-year-old, who'd missed Buffalo's last game with a minor upper-body injury, still hasn't found the form that saw him produce 47 goals and 94 points last season, but he has been making a contribution of late with four goals and seven points over his last 11 contests.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Not playing Thursday

Thompson (upper body) will not play Thursday versus the Predators. Thompson has gone without a point over the last three games, but he hasn't shown any obvious signs of playing through an injury. Because Thompson is sidelined, Lukas Rousek is expected to draw into the lineup against Nashville.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Supplies only offense in loss

Thompson scored a power-play goal in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Stars. He tied the game at 1-1 early in the second period with a one-timer from the faceoff dot, but it was the only offense the Sabres could muster. Thompson managed only one assist in the seven games prior to the All-Star break, so Tuesday's tally is a good sign he could be about to heat up again. It's been a disappointing campaign for the 26-year-old overall -- through 40 contests he's produced just 15 goals and 29 points.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Manages assist in loss

Thompson recorded an assist, two shots on goal and four hits in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Ducks. Thompson snapped a four-game point drought with the helper on Kyle Okposo's tally late in the third period. The 26-year-old Thompson had eight points across six outings prior to his recent slump. • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Game against Chicago postponed

Thompson and the Sabres' game against Chicago on Wednesday has been postponed to Thursday because of weather-related travel restrictions. Thompson (undisclosed) will play Saturday versus Vancouver, per Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News. Thompson left Thursday's 5-3 win over Ottawa because of the injury, but he won't be kept out for a full contest. He has 14 goals and 27 points in 32 outings in 2023-24. • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Undergoing medical imaging

Thompson is undergoing an MRI Friday to evaluate his undisclosed injury, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports. While not officially ruled out, Thompson seems unlikely to play versus the Canucks on Saturday since the team is still determining the extent and specific nature of his injury. The 26-year-old center's potential absence would be a huge blow to the Sabres offense, as he has racked up seven goals and five assists, including four power-play points, in his last nine outings. Casey Mittelstadt could shift back to a center role if Thompson does miss time.

Thompson (undisclosed) didn't finish Thursday's game versus the Senators, but head coach Don Granato expected the center to be okay, Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic reports. Thompson had to leave the ice earlier in the contest, but he was able to return and scored a pair of first-period goals, including one on the power play. It doesn't sound like there's a lot of concern regarding his status. He's up to 14 goals, 27 points, 110 shots on net and a minus-7 rating through 32 appearances this season.
