    Shesterkin stopped 39 of 40 Colorado shots to grab a 3-2 shootout win Thursday. The former Vezina winner only allowed a single goal on 40 shots, but an own-goal helped Colorado push the game into overtime. In the shootout, he stopped both Avs shooters he faced. Shesterkin's up and down play has at times overshadowed that he remains capable of stealing a game from any opponent. Colorado outshot New York 40 to 25, but Shesterkin was fantastic.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Slated to start Thursday

    Shesterkin is set to start on the road against Colorado on Thursday, per Ryan Boulding of NHL.com. Shesterkin is going through a rough patch in which he's posted a 3.56 GAA and an .881 save percentage across his past five outings. He's 31-15-2 with a 2.65 GAA and a .911 save percentage in 48 contests overall. Shesterkin could have a difficult time rebounding against the Avalanche, who lead the league offensively with 3.72 goals per game.

After a scoreless first period, Philly grabbed a 2-0 lead before the Rangers could get on the board, but once New York had surged ahead 3-2 early in the third, Shesterkin made sure they never trailed again. It's the second time in his last five starts the 28-year-old netminder has given up five goals, but through nine outings in March he still sports a 2.64 GAA and .910 save percentage to go along with a 5-3-1 record.

Although the Rangers were down 2-0 early in the second period, Shesterkin battled back and kicked aside all but one shot in the third period for the remainder of the game. He stopped all four shots in overtime to eventually get the win in a shootout. It has been an up-and-down month of March for Shesterkin, as he has four wins and four losses -- one loss in overtime -- in his eight outings.
