Rickie Fowler had a week off to celebrate his first victory since 2019. Now it's time to see if the 34-year-old can do it again. Fowler is one of the favorites to win the 2023 Genesis Scottish Open after winning the Rocket Mortgage Challenge earlier this month. Fowler has finished in the top 10 in four of his last five starts. Will his strong play continue at the Genesis Scottish Open 2023, which gets underway from The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland on Thursday?

Fowler is going off at 16-1 according to the latest 2023 Genesis Scottish Open odds. Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 ranked player in the world, is the 7-1 favorite, followed by Rory McIlroy at 17-2. Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele share 14-1 odds to win in Scotland, just ahead of Fowler. Before locking in your 2023 Scottish Open picks, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up over $10,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure's model predicted Jon Rahm would finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. And at the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scottie Scheffler winning in 2022.

In addition, the model included Nick Taylor in its best bets to win the 2023 RBC Canadian Open. That bet hit at +7000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,900. McClure's best bets also included Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

This same model has also nailed a whopping nine majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the 2023 Genesis Scottish Open field is set, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.

Top 2023 Genesis Scottish Open predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the Genesis Scottish Open 2023: Xander Schauffele, the defending champion and one of the top favorites, stumbles this week and fails to crack the top five. Schauffele has been extremely consistent this season, securing a top-25 finish in 14 of his 17 starts on the PGA Tour.

However, Schauffele has yet to win this season and he's finished T-18 or worse in three of his last four starts. Schauffele's recent results can be directly attributed to his struggles with accuracy off the tee. The 29-year-old enters the Genesis Scottish Open ranked 100th in driving accuracy percentage (58.91%). He also ranks 128th in proximity (38'9) on approach shots. He's not a strong pick to win it all and there are far better values in the 2023 Genesis Scottish Open field.

Another surprise: Tommy Fleetwood, a 21-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. Fleetwood has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. The England native had back-to-back top-five finishes, including T-5 showing at the U.S. Open, before missing the cut at the Travelers Championship.

Fleetwood is still seeking his first PGA Tour victory in 121 career events, but his results of late mirror someone who could be on his way to breaking that streak. The 32-year-old had top-20 finishes in five of six events before the Travelers Championship, including three in the top five. He is one of the best putters on the PGA Tour, ranking 15th in putting average and seventh in one-putt percentage. If he can knock down some timely putts this week, Fleetwood could be on his way to his first PGA Tour victory. See who else to pick here.
