Shane Lowry dropped a tasty little 29 on the back nine at TPC Sawgrass during the first round of the Players Championship on Thursday. It ranks as the lowest score on the back nine in Players Championship history. Lowry started birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie before making birdie at two of the final five holes for the 29.

Here's what that looks like.

Lowry shot a 7-under 65 on the day, which was tied for the clubhouse lead with a handful of other golfers at the time he finished up. The previous record for the back nine at TPC Sawgrass was 30, which was shared by 15 golfers, most recently Geoff Ogilvy and Russell Henley in the first round in 2014.

This week is going to be fascinating. It's already steaming hot in Florida and supposed to get hotter all weekend which means greens will bake out and scores will rise. These will almost certainly be the best conditions for players to score in. Good thing Lowry took advantage of it.
