It's not a good night to be an American League East starter. Tampa Bay Rays ace Chris Archer had already exited his start when Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Marcus Stroman departed during the second inning of a game against the Baltimore Orioles (GameTracker).

Whereas Archer's ailment was unclear (it's since been described as forearm tightness), the catalyst behind Stroman's was on display for all to see -- he took a Mark Trumbo line drive off the pitching elbow.

Stroman appeared to be in significant pain, but seemingly lobbied to continue pitching. The Blue Jays, all but out of playoff contention, turned to Matt Dermody.

Stroman entered the night with a 3.11 ERA (146 ERA+) and 2.73 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He says he'll make his next start:
