  • Diamondbacks' Evan Longoria: Homers Wednesday

Longoria went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Phillies. Longoria extended Arizona's lead to 5-0 with a two-run, 422-foot shot off Ranger Suarez in the third inning. He now has three home runs in his last seven games, bringing his total to six this season. However, the 37-year-old veteran still offers marginal fantasy utility at this point while filling the short side of a platoon. He's now slashing .221/.269/.477 with 13 runs scored and 10 RBI through 93 plate appearances.

  • Diamondbacks' Evan Longoria: Goes deep in win

Longoria went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-5 win over San Francisco. Longoria got the start against a righty and made manager Torey Lovullo look smart when he snuck a ball just inside the left-field foul pole for his fifth homer of the season and second this week. Playing mostly against lefties, the 37-year-old Longoria hasn't been able to get into a groove at the dish and is batting just .227 (17-for-75). On a positive note, eight of his 17 hits are extra-base knocks.

  • Diamondbacks' Evan Longoria: Goes deep in three-hit effort

Longoria went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Marlins. Longoria came up a triple shy of the cycle, but he hasn't hit a three-bagger since 2020, so he was never much of a threat for the feat. The homer was Longoria's second in his last six games and his fourth of the season. The 37-year-old raised his slash line to .229/.276/.443 with seven RBI, 10 runs scored and three doubles through 76 plate appearances this season. He continues to be a short-side platoon option at third base and designated hitter.

  • Diamondbacks' Evan Longoria: Hits first homer in three weeks

Longoria went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Sunday's 12-4 loss to Colorado. Longoria finally broke out of his slump, hitting his first home run since April 7 while also receiving his first walk since April 14. In his last six appearances leading up to Sunday's contest, Longoria was 1-for-20 (.050) at the plate without a single run scored. Considering his struggles with the bat, his minuscule role platooning with Josh Rojas and the ascension of Emmanuel Rivera, it's difficult to see Longoria etching out a fantasy-relevant role this season.

  • Diamondbacks' Evan Longoria: Going through rough patch

Longoria started at designated hitter and went 0-for-5 in Saturday's 11-4 win over the Rockies. Longoria has just one hit over the late 21 at-bats, lowering his season average to .208. He could be in danger of losing plate appearances to Emmanuel Rivera, who started at third base and had three hits Saturday.

  • Diamondbacks' Evan Longoria: Enters as pinch hitter

Longoria went 0-for-2 in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Padres. Longoria had not played the previous three games before being used as a pinch hitter and finishing out the final two innings at third base Saturday. Josh Rojas usually starts at the hot corner against right-handers, leaving Longoria on the short side of a platoon. That's likely the outlook for the 37-year-old Longoria, who's had fewer than 300 plate appearances the last two full seasons.

Longoria went 3-for-3 with a double, a solo home run and two runs scored in Friday's victory over the Dodgers. He also walked. Longoria continues to rake in the early part of the season, and he tied the game at 3-3 with a blast off Clayton Kershaw in the sixth. In his first year with the Diamondbacks, the veteran third baseman has gone deep twice over his first five contests while batting .429 (6-for-14) on the short side of a platoon.

Longoria went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 5-4 loss against the Padres. After sitting Sunday, Longoria was back in the starting lineup Monday and smacked his first home run as a Diamondback. The veteran has struggled with injuries, playing less than 90 games in three straight seasons (all with San Francisco), but if he can stay on the field, he figures to see plenty of plate appearances with his new squad.

  • Diamondbacks' Evan Longoria: On bench Sunday

Longoria is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers. Longoria is 1-for-7 with a double and a run scored through the first three games of the season and will take a seat for Sunday's series finale in Los Angeles. Josh Rojas will step in at the hot corner and bat leadoff for Arizona.

  • Diamondbacks' Evan Longoria: Launches first spring homer

Longoria went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's spring game against Cleveland. The homer was the first of the spring for Longoria and just his second hit. The third baseman is 2-for-18 (.111) over eight Cactus League games. He's expected to serve as the Diamondbacks' primary third baseman to start the season, although remaining healthy could be an issue for the 37-year-old, who hasn't played more than 89 games since 2019.

  • Diamondbacks' Evan Longoria: Back at camp

Longoria (illness) returned to camp Saturday after missing time with strep throat, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports. Longoria is the leading candidate to start at third base. He's perceived as a better glove than last year's primary starter at the hot corner, Josh Rojas, who went 1-for-3 with a run-producing double in a spring game against the Rockies.

  • Diamondbacks' Evan Longoria: Away from camp with illness

Longoria was away from camp on Wednesday due to illness, Nick Piecoro of the AZ Central reports. There's no timetable for when Longoria will be back, but it doesn't sound like something that will carry over into the regular season. The 37-year-old third baseman joined the Diamondbacks over the winter after slashing .244/.315/.451 with 14 homers over 89 games for the Giants in 2022.

  • Diamondbacks' Evan Longoria: Joining D-backs

Longoria (thumb) agreed to a one-year contract with the Diamondbacks on Friday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Despite being one of the older players in the game, Longoria still managed to put together a respectable 2022 campaign. He slashed .244/.315/.451 through 298 plate appearances with San Francisco, with a few IL stints mixed in throughout the season. He will likely split time at third base with Josh Rojas and get the nod to start whenever the D-backs face a lefty on the mound.

  • Evan Longoria: Giants decline option

Longoria (thumb) had his $13 million club option for 2023 declined by the Giants on Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Longoria played fewer than 90 games in each of the past two seasons, and San Francisco opted to pay the $5 million buyout and decline his option for next year. The 37-year-old had a .244/.315/.451 slash line with 14 home runs and 42 RBI in 298 plate appearances last year, so he should be able to secure another deal in free agency. The Giants are apparently interested in re-signing him at a lower price.

  • Giants' Evan Longoria: Done for season

Longoria was placed on the 10-day injured list with a fractured right thumb Monday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Longoria was struck on the hand by a ball Sunday against the Diamondbacks and underwent an X-ray that revealed a fractured thumb. He'll be unavailable for the Giants' final three regular-season games, and it seems likely that he'll require several weeks of rest during the offseason. The 36-year-old slashed .244/.315/.451 with 14 home runs, 42 RBI and 31 runs over 89 games in 2022.

  • Giants' Evan Longoria: Slated for X-rays on hand

Longoria will undergo X-rays after he was struck on the hand by a ball while fielding during Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Longoria was struck on the hand on a ball that likely would have been a double play, and manager Gabe Kapler said after the game that the 36-year-old wouldn't have hit if his spot in the order came up again. Longoria should tentatively be considered day-to-day until the results of his X-rays are known.

  • Giants' Evan Longoria: Mashes out of slump

Longoria went 2-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI in Friday's 10-4 win over the Diamondbacks. Longoria hadn't homered since Aug. 23, going 26 games without a long ball. He had just two multi-hit efforts in that span, but he ended the quiet stretch with a massive performance. He knocked a go-ahead three-run blast in the first inning and tacked on a two-run shot in the second. Longoria is up to 14 homers, 41 RBI, 31 runs scored and 13 doubles through 88 contests this year.

  • Giants' Evan Longoria: Clutch pinch-hit single

Longoria went 1-for-1 with two RBI in Sunday's victory over the Diamondbacks. Longoria pinch hit for Ford Proctor in the top of the eighth inning Sunday and came up big with a two-run single to put the Giants up 3-1. The veteran has settled into a platoon role of late and does not have much fantasy appeal at this point in his career, but the big hit Sunday keeps the Giants' playoff hopes alive.

  • Giants' Evan Longoria: Racks up three hits

Longoria went 3-for-5 with an RBI in Friday's 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks. Longoria continues to remain in a short-side platoon role. His multi-hit effort Friday was his second in September, and he's hit just .185 with three doubles and six RBI this month. For the season, the slump has him down to a .241/.314/.435 slash line with 12 home runs, 34 RBI, 29 runs scored and 13 doubles through 283 plate appearances.
