Angels' Matt Moore: Goes on IL
The Angels placed Moore on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a right oblique strain.
Moore suffered the injury while throwing prior to Friday's 6-2 win over the Marlins. According to Sam Blum of The Athletic, Angels manager Phil Nevin said Moore is dealing with a Grade 2 strain and is without a timeline for a return, though the expectation is that the southpaw will miss more than the minimum 15 days. The Angels called up right-hander Ben Joyce from Double-A Rocket City on Sunday to take Moore's spot in the bullpen.

Angels' Matt Moore: Headed for IL with oblique strain
Angels manager Phil Nevin said after Saturday's 8-5 loss to Miami in 10 innings that Moore is set to be placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to an oblique strain, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
According to Nevin, Moore suffered the injury in question while throwing on the field prior to Friday's 6-2 win. After an MRI on Saturday confirmed that he had suffered a strain, Moore will now be shelved for at least the next two and a half weeks, though the Angels haven't offered up a precise timeline for his return. The Angels will promote top relief prospect Ben Joyce from Double-A Rocket City to take Moore's spot in the bullpen.

Angels' Matt Moore: Secures win Friday
Moore (3-1) earned the win over the Guardians on Friday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out one batter over two innings.
By most standards, this was actually Moore's worst outing of the campaign, as it was the first time in 17 trips to the mound that he has allowed multiple hits and just the third time he's allowed an earned run. However, a ninth-inning Angels comeback put the left-hander in line for his third victory of the campaign. Moore has been excellent out of the bullpen in his first season with the Angels, notching a team-high eight holds while registering a 1.35 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 19:6 K:BB over 20 innings.

Angels' Matt Moore: Agrees to deal with Halos
Moore agreed to terms on a one-year, $7.55 million contract with the Angels on Thursday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Moore had been one of the best remaining available free agents after posting a 1.95 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 83:38 K:BB over 74 innings for the Rangers last season. He also collected five saves and should be in the late-inning mix for the Angels in 2023, particularly since he was effective against hitters from both sides of the plate, holding righties to a .537 OPS and lefties to a .634 OPS.

Rangers' Matt Moore: Notches fifth save
Moore earned a save after he tossed a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one walk while striking out a batter in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Yankees.
Tasked with protecting a 4-2 lead in the top of the ninth, Moore worked around a one-out walk and pitched a scoreless frame, notching a save. The save was his sixth of the year and second in as many days. Moore will finish the 2022 campaign with a 1.95 ERA and 1.18 WHIP while striking out 83 batters over 74 innings in 63 appearances with the Rangers.

Rangers' Matt Moore: Notches fourth save
Moore struck out two in a perfect ninth inning to record his fourth save of the season in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees.
Jose Leclerc hasn't pitched since Sept. 29, but he remained in the bullpen while Moore got the call to secure a split of the twin bill for the Rangers. The veteran lefty has been outstanding in a relief role this year, and since the beginning of September he's posted a 2.08 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB through 13 innings. Moore is also a free agent in the offseason, and the 33-year-old could land a big contract to fill a high-leverage role for another team given his 2022 numbers.

Rangers' Matt Moore: Earns third save Monday
Moore struck out one in a perfect inning to pick up the save Monday against the Twins.
The Rangers turned to the southpaw for his third save of the season. Moore has excelled in his first season as a full-time reliever, as he owns a 2.05 ERA which would be the best mark of his career and first time under 4.00 since 2014. Despite earning the save Monday (which was his first since July 28), the veteran appears to be in a closer-by-committee situation, as the Rangers have 10 relievers with at least one save this season.

Rangers' Matt Moore: Goes on bereavement leave
The Rangers transferred Moore (personal) from the paternity list to the bereavement list Wednesday.
According to Levi Weaver of The Athletic, Moore's newborn child and wife are fine; the veteran southpaw asked to spend more than the maximum three days away from the team, and the Rangers were able to facilitate his request by moving him to a different inactive list. Players can spend a maximum of seven days on the bereavement list, so Moore should be expected to rejoin the Rangers by the middle of next week, if not sooner.
