Grandal (hamstring) is hitting fifth and catching against the Royals on Sunday, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Likely out next two games
Grandal (hamstring) isn't starting Friday against the Royals and probably won't catch Saturday either, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said the team wanted to give Grandal time to rest his hamstring, which has been giving him problems over the past week. The veteran backstop is available to pinch hit, but Seby Zavala will start behind the dish until Grandal is fully recovered.... See More ... See Less -

White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Hamstring flares up
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Wednesday that Grandal aggravated his right hamstring injury, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. Grifol added that the 34-year-old backstop likely won't be in Thursday's lineup against Cleveland. White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Returns to lineup

White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Could return to lineup Sunday
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol told reporters that Grandal (hamstring) could return to the lineup Sunday against the Astros after being scratched from the lineup Saturday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. "Better to be safe, yeah," Grifol said. "Especially with the off day on Monday. We'll reassess it tomorrow. If he can play [Sunday], I might put him in there. If not we'll give him the extra 48 hours so he can be ready to go on Tuesday." Grandal hurt his hamstring Thursday and sat out Friday's contest, and while he was originally in the lineup Saturday against Houston, the White Sox exercised additional caution with the late scratch. In order to take advantage of Monday's team off day, there's a strong chance Grandal won't be back in the lineup for Sunday's contest.... See More ... See Less -

Fortunately for Grandal, the White Sox have a regular spot available at DH after Eloy Jimenez (appendectomy) landed on the injured list Sunday, so the 34-year-old isn't expected to miss out on any starts on account of the back issue.
