Padres' Manny Machado: Goes yard again Sunday
Machado went 2-for-4 with a solo homer, a walk and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Dodgers.
Machado opened up the scoring with a deep drive to center field in the fourth off James Paxton and later singled and scored in the sixth. Sunday was the first time since April 6 he did not strike out, and he's now riding an eight-game hit streak while slashing .333/.371/.545 with two homers, three RBI and seven runs scored over that span.

Padres' Manny Machado: Belts homer Friday
Machado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk Friday in an 8-7 extra-innings victory against the Dodgers.
Machado got the Padres off to a nice start with a two-run blast in the first inning. Though he didn't collect another hit in the contest, it was still a promising development for the third baseman since the homer snapped an 11-game stretch without a long ball. Machado is still batting just .238 on the campaign, but he's been heating up of late, slashing .320/.346/.480 during his current six-game hitting streak.

Padres' Manny Machado: Elbow still not feeling 100 percent
Machado said Sunday that his surgically repaired right elbow is "not 100 percent" and he's been told by doctors he might not feel fully healthy until next season, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
Machado experienced some fatigue in the elbow during spring training, which has delayed his return to third base. While Padres manager Mike Shildt indicated Saturday that Machado could play the hot corner before the end of April, Machado said Sunday that "there's not really a timetable on it." The elbow doesn't affect Machado at the plate, as he's started all 12 games at designated hitter (though he's hitting only .196/.288/.370 so far). San Diego has used a combination of Tyler Wade, Graham Pauley and Eguy Rosario at third base.

Padres' Manny Machado: Remains weeks away from playing 3B
Manager Mike Shildt said Friday that Machado has been extending distance when playing catch and is "a little ahead of schedule" in terms of rehabbing from offseason elbow surgery, though the Padres won't consider having him return to the field for a few more weeks, 97.3 The Fan San Diego reports.
Machado has been limited exclusively to designated-hitter duties to begin the campaign, and that appears unlikely to change for at least a few more weeks. Nonetheless, Shildt indicated that the veteran third baseman is "in a good place" and has been feeling good after recent throwing sessions. It's uncertain if Machado's offseason surgery has affected his swing, but he's off to a slow start at the plate, slashing .184/.295/.395 with two home runs, seven RBI and a 6:7 BB:K through 44 plate appearances.

Machado went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and three RBI in Sunday's 13-4 rout of the Giants.
Machado posted his first multi-hit game and his second three-RBI performance of the campaign. The veteran has been relegated to DH duties for the Padres following offseason elbow surgery, but that has enabled him to play in all six of San Diego's games so far. Machado is slashing .217/.357/.565 with two homers, seven RBI, seven runs and a 5:4 BB:K through 23 plate appearances.

Machado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Friday in an 8-3 loss to San Francisco.
Machado put the Padres on the board in the fourth inning with his 398-foot shot to left field. It was his second homer of the campaign, but he doesn't have any other hits among his 14 at-bats. Machado has logged all four of his starts this season at DH as he continues to recover from offseason elbow surgery.

Padres' Manny Machado: Swats clutch homer in Seoul
Machado went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional run and two walks in Thursday's 15-11 win over the Dodgers in Game 2 of the Seoul Series.
San Diego built a big 9-2 lead by the middle of the third inning only to see Los Angeles fight back over the following frames. The Padres' lead was 12-11 in the top of the ninth when Machado tagged J.P. Feyereisen with a three-run blast to left field, sealing the outcome for his team. The homer was Machado's lone hit in seven at-bats during the two-game, season-opening set, but he did draw three walks. He served as San Diego's DH in both contests as he continues to work his way back from offseason elbow surgery, though the procedure doesn't seem to have impacted his ability to swing the bat.
