Rays' Jason Adam: Pulled from appearance
Adam left Friday's game against the Blue Jays with an apparent injury, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Adam, who just returned Thursday from a three-week stay on the injured list to heal a left oblique strain, departed with a trainer at his side after uncorking a wild pitch in the top of the ninth inning. Erasmo Ramirez replaced him on the mound.

The Rays placed Adam on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left oblique strain.
Adam underwent medical imaging on his left oblique after being pulled from his appearance Friday against Toronto, and he'll now officially be held out for the remainder of the regular season. Adam is hopeful he can return during the Rays' postseason run, per Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun, but Chris Devenski will join Tampa Bay's bullpen from Triple-A in the meantime.

Adam was sent for imaging scans on his left oblique after departing Friday's loss to the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
This is ominous news given that Adam just returned Thursday from a three-week injured list stint for a left oblique strain. He said the discomfort is in a different area this time around but acknowledged that it feels more severe. The 32-year-old high-leverage reliever is likely headed back to the IL and could be done for the remainder of 2023.

Adam has been sidelined since Aug. 29 and is eligible to return as soon as Sept. 14. Adam didn't allow a baserunner during the ninth inning to pick up his 12th save of the year in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Yankees. He did not record a strikeout.
Adam picked up his first save since June 14th after sending down the Yankees in order on 15 pitches. The right-hander still appears to be the next man up in the pecking order for saves should Pete Fairbanks be unavailable, like he was Sunday. Adam has picked up two wins, a save and a hold in 10 appearances in August while registering a 3.27 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB in 11 innings.

Rays' Jason Adam: Picks up 11th save
Adam picked up a save in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Athletics, allowing one hit while striking out one over a scoreless inning.
Adam continues to operate as Tampa Bay's primary closer with Pete Fairbanks (hip) on the injured list. The former sports a 2.76 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 38:13 K:BB across 31 appearances (29.1 innings), but he's just 11-for-15 in save opportunities. While Adam has been steady as a late-inning option, Fairbanks' impending return will likely reduce Adam's overall fantasy value moving forward.

Rays' Jason Adam: Nails down 10th save
Adam picked up the save in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Twins, striking out one over one inning.
Adam entered the game in the ninth with a 4-2 lead and retired all three hitters he faced to record his 10th save of the season. It was a nice rebound outing for the Rays reliever after he blew the save Wednesday against these same Twins. He's now converted five of his last six save opportunities and holds a 2.96 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP while holding down the closer role in the absence of Pete Fairbanks (hip).

Rays' Jason Adam: Nabs win after blown save
Adam (2-1) blew his fourth save of the season but still picked up the win in Wednesday's 2-1 victory over the Twins, giving up a run in the ninth inning on a hit and a walk while also hitting two batters with pitches.
Tampa Bay deployed a bullpen day and kept Minnesota off the board for eight innings, but Adam's control deserted him in the ninth and nearly led to disaster. After he gave up the tying run and loaded the bases with one out, however, the Rays were able to turn a slick 5-4-3 double play to end the threat, setting the stage for Randy Arozarena to walk it off in the bottom of the frame. Adam is now 9-for-12 in converting save chances since the beginning of May, but he'll continue to hold down the fort as the closer until Pete Fairbanks (hip) is able to get healthy -- or the front office swings a deal for high-leverage reinforcements.
