Twins' Joey Gallo: Getting time at first base
Gallo started at first base and went 1-for-3 with a double in Monday's spring training win over the Yankees. He's hitting .316 (6-for-19) with a home run this spring.
Gallo could get playing time at first base this year, especially early in the season with Alex Kirilloff (wrist) questionable for the start of the season. He'll likely get most of his playing time in left field as he looks to rebound from a disappointing season. He hit just .160/.280/.357 with 19 home runs last season with a 39.8 percent strikeout rate across 126 games for the Yankees and Dodgers.

Twins' Joey Gallo: Gets one-year deal with Twins
Gallo signed a one-year, $11 million contract with the Twins on Friday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Gallo's 2022 was a disaster, as he put up a .160/.280/.357 slash line with 19 home runs and a nearly 40 percent strikeout rate across 126 games for the Yankees and Dodgers. He was one of the most prolific home run hitters in the game for the five seasons prior to that, however, and also offers good defense in the outfield. The Twins are taking a modest gamble on a bounce-back and no doubt are hoping Gallo will be aided by the new rules banning defensive shifts.

Dodgers' Joey Gallo: Slugs massive homer
Gallo went 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two total runs and two total RBI in Monday's 5-2 victory versus the Diamondbacks.
Gallo got the Dodgers off to a good start with a 437-foot solo moonshot to right field in the second inning, and he added a run-scoring single in the fourth. It was the first multi-hit performance for the slugger since Aug. 21. Gallo is slashing a paltry .190/.261/.452 in September, but he's hit three homers and driven in 11 runs over 14 games.

Dodgers' Joey Gallo: Heads to bench Sunday
Gallo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Gallo will take a seat after he started in each of the past six games while going 2-for-20 at the dish. Five of those starts came while Gavin Lux was absent from the lineup due to a back injury, but with Lux returning to action Saturday, Gallo could see his opportunities to play take a hit moving forward.

Dodgers' Joey Gallo: Snags steal in win
Gallo went 0-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 4-0 win over the Giants.
Gallo got aboard on a fielder's choice in the second inning, driving in the Dodgers' first run. He added a steal, his third of the year and first since July 14. The slugger has produced two home runs, eight RBI and three runs scored through 12 games in September despite hitting just .139 (5-for-36). For the year, he's posted a .160/.280/.355 slash line with 17 home runs, 40 RBI and 43 runs scored through 113 contests between the Dodgers and the Yankees.

Dodgers' Joey Gallo: Goes deep Tuesday
Gallo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 4-0 victory versus the Diamondbacks.
Gallo plated the first runs of the contest with a 438-foot, two-run shot to center field in the second inning. He also struck out twice Tuesday -- the third time in his past four games that he's fanned multiple times. Gallo's move to Los Angeles hasn't remedied his strikeout woes -- he has a 41.1 percent strikeout rate as a Dodger -- but he's managed some positive production with five homers, 15 RBI and 11 runs over 29 games.

Dodgers' Joey Gallo: X-rays return negative
Gallo had X-rays come back negative after leaving Wednesday's win over the Giants, which confirmed the diagnosis of an elbow contusion, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
The 29-year-old apparently felt some tingling in his fingers after the hit-by-pitch on the elbow, but he's not dealing with any serious issues. Los Angeles' scheduled day off Thursday will provide Gallo a full day to recover ahead of Friday's series opener versus the Padres.

Dodgers' Joey Gallo: Swats homer in win
Gallo went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Giants.
Gallo gave the Dodgers a 3-1 lead in the second inning and they didn't look back. He hadn't hit a homer in 14 games entering Tuesday, going a meager 6-for-38 (.158) with a triple, two doubles, five RBI and five runs scored in that span. In 106 contests between the Dodgers and the Yankees this year, the slugger has 16 homers, 37 RBI, 42 runs scored, two steals and a .168/.288/.367 slash line.

Dodgers' Joey Gallo: Retreats to bench
Gallo is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Gallo will hit the bench after he picked up starts in the corner outfield in seven of the past eight games. Over the last five of those starts, Gallo went a collective 0-for-14 with seven strikeouts, potentially stalling any momentum he might have had for unseating Chris Taylor in an everyday role in the outfield.

Dodgers' Joey Gallo: Fills in for resting Taylor
Gallo will start in left field and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Marlins, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Gallo will pick up his fourth start in five games, but he's mostly benefited from Gavin Lux (neck) missing the previous four contests before re-entering the lineup Sunday. Chris Taylor, who had been the primary replacement at second base for Lux, is expected to take over as the Dodgers' main left fielder moving forward, but he'll get a breather for the day game after a night game. Since joining the Dodgers in an Aug. 2 deal with the Yankees, Gallo has produced a .237/.370/.579 slash line with six extra-base hits and seven RBI in 15 games.
