Dodgers' Ken Giles: Signs MiLB deal with LAD
The Dodgers signed Giles to a minor-league contract Saturday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Giles held a showcase May 11 for teams, and the Dodgers must have liked what they saw enough to give the right-hander a chance. Giles is not far removed from being one of the best closers in baseball, but he's missed significant time over the past few seasons due to a variety of arm injuries. Los Angeles will have to add Giles to the 40-man roster in order to have him join the club, but if he pitches well in the minors he could be an option for the Dodgers this summer.

Giles will throw live batting practice Friday for interested teams, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Giles staged multiple free-agent showcases during the winter and spring, but those workouts apparently didn't yield any offers to his liking. After spending the last five weeks working at Driveline in Phoenix, the 32-year-old reliever will attempt again to attract MLB interest. He's pitched sparingly over the last three years due to a range of arm injuries but is said to be fully healthy.

Giles will hold a showcase for teams Friday at Arizona State University, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Giles did the same thing in early February and nothing came of it, but maybe he's throwing with more juice here in mid-March. The 32-year-old right-hander has logged only eight major-league innings since the beginning of the 2020 season because of various upper and lower arm injuries, though he's said to be fully healthy now.

Ken Giles: Ready to audition
Giles will throw for teams Feb. 8, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
The workout will take place at Arizona State University. A former closer, Giles has made just nine appearances over the last two years because of injuries -- including Tommy John surgery on his right elbow -- but Heyman reports that the right-hander is said to be "100 percent healthy." A good showing at the workout could see him brought in by a team needing relief help, but it's unlikely it would come in a role that would provide fantasy relevance.

Ken Giles: Let go by Giants
The Giants released Giles on Monday.
His stint in the Giants organization lasted just one week, with Giles receiving his release after allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out two over 2.2 innings across his three appearances at Triple-A Sacramento. Giles will now look to move on to his third organization of the season, as he was previously cut loose by Seattle earlier this month.

Giants' Ken Giles: Lands MiLB deal with Giants
Giles agreed Monday with the Giants on a minor-league contract, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Giles elected free agency Aug. 14 after he was designated for assignment by the Mariners, but he has now quickly found a new opportunity with the Giants. The 31-year-old appeared in five games for Seattle this season, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and four walks while striking out six. Those numbers are a little misleading though, as he surrendered 13 runs over 12.1 frames during his minor-league rehab assignment. Giles will likely find himself elevated to the Giants bullpen at some point down the stretch.

Giles cleared waivers and elected free agency Sunday.
Giles was cast off the Mariners' 40-man roster Friday and will choose to test free agency rather than accepting an outright assignment. The right-hander made five relief appearances for Seattle earlier in the year and struck out six in 4.1 scoreless innings.

Giles made his Mariners debut in late June and tossed 4.1 scoreless innings over five appearances before sustaining a shoulder injury. He spent the last month recovering and posted a 3.60 ERA and 0.80 WHIP in five innings over five rehab appearances. While the right-hander is back to full health, he'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him become a free agent if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

Mariners' Ken Giles: Solid rehab outings at Triple-A
Giles (shoulder) made his most recent pair of rehab appearances Tuesday and Wednesday with Triple-A Tacoma, firing two scoreless innings during which he's allowed a hit and a walk while recording one strikeout.
The veteran right-hander has been impressive during his time in the minors save for one hiccup Friday while toiling for High-A Everett. Just as important, Giles pitched well during his first two appearances against a higher level of competition with the Rainiers and did so on back-to-back days, supporting the notion he could be ready for activation as the Mariners begin a three-game series against the Rangers on Friday.

Giles (shoulder) allowed two earned runs on a hit, a walk and a wild pitch while recording two strikeouts over one inning in High-A Everett's loss to Hillsboro on Friday.
The good news is that the veteran worked up to 20 pitches, but he also was markedly less sharp than in his rehab debut Tuesday, when he'd fired a perfect sixth inning. The Mariners will likely want to see Giles put in at least another couple of rehab appearances, including one at the Triple-A level, before activation is considered.

Giles (shoulder) logged a hold for High-A Everett in a win over Hillsboro on Tuesday, firing a perfect sixth inning during which he recorded two strikeouts.
Giles was encouragingly sharp while getting through his one frame on 12 pitches, nine of which found the strike zone. The oft-injured veteran right-hander was impressive over his first five outings since 2020 earlier in the season before going on the injured list July 9, and he'll likely log multiple appearances in the minors before being deemed ready for activation.

Manager Scott Servais said Thursday that Giles (shoulder) will throw a live BP session soon, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
Giles has been on the injured list since July 9 due to tightness behind his right shoulder but has been cleared to face hitters. Since the right-hander has dealt with various injuries over the last few years, it wouldn't be surprising to see him require a rehab assignment before he's cleared to rejoin the Mariners.

Giles suffered the injury during Friday's win over the Blue Jays and was quickly placed on the injured list. He's managed just eight innings since the 2019 season due to a combination of Tommy John surgery, a finger sprain and now his most recent issue. There's no timetable for Giles' return, though he'll be sidelined until at least late July.

Giles exited Friday's extra-innings win over the Blue Jays with tightness in the back of his shoulder after retiring the first batter he faced in the eighth inning, the Associated Press reports.
The oft-injured veteran had just started his fifth appearance of both the season and since 2020 at the big-league level before he had to exit with a trainer in the midst of facing Santiago Espinal. Giles fired a scoreless eighth inning in a 9-3 win over the Orioles on Wednesday, allowing a walk and recording two strikeouts.
Giles was sharp for the third time in as many outings, pounding in 10 of his 15 pitches for strikes. The veteran right-hander has strung together scoreless efforts in each of his first three appearances at the big-league level since 2020, but as Wednesday demonstrated, manager Scott Servais is still looking to deploy Giles in low-leverage spots for the time being.
