Stripling made his first start of the spring Sunday versus Oakland after appearing as a reliever in his first two outings. Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports Stripling took a comebacker off the glove in Sunday's game, but there's no concern of an injury at this time. The 33-year-old right-hander was effective with a 3.01 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 111:20 K:BB across 134.1 innings with the Blue Jays a year ago, and he should slot in toward the back of the Giants' rotation this season, though his favorable home park could make him worth a look in deeper fantasy drafts.

Stripling signed a two-year, $25 million deal with the Giants on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
The contract contains an opt-out after the first season, though the Giants likely won't complain too much if Stripling pitches well enough to exercise it. The 33-year-old righty produced career bests in ERA (3.01) and WHIP (1.02) and innings (134.1) last season. His 20.7 percent strikeout rate was mediocre, as it's been for the last few seasons, but his 3.7 percent walk rate was third best among pitchers who threw at least as many frames. The risk of a sudden downturn can't be ignored for any pitcher Stripling's age, but he's found himself in an ideal pitchers' park as he looks to repeat last year's success.

The Giants announced Tuesday that Stripling signed a two-year, $25 million contract.
The deal includes an opt-out after the first year. The Giants seemingly have more starters than they have rotation spots following the recent additions of Stripling and Sean Manaea, but the former does offer previous relief experience, if needed.

Stripling appears to be set to start Game 3 of the AL Wild Card Series against the Mariners on Sunday, if the Blue Jays win Saturday to extend the series, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.
Stripling's teammate Alek Manoah indicated that Stripling was the scheduled starter in his post-game comments after Toronto's Game 1 loss Friday, though interim manager John Schneider said the team was still deciding between Stripling and Jose Berrios. Stripling can't match Berrios' reputation or salary, but the former far outplayed the latter by ERA this season, beating him 3.01 to 5.23.

Stripling did not allow an extra-base hit in his quality outing against Boston. The righty recently went through a five-start stretch where he allowed six home runs with a 4.45 ERA over 28.1 innings, but he has bounced back by allowing only one run with no homers over his last two outings. The only damage against the 6-foot-1 righty was Randy Arozarena's RBI sacrifice fly in the third inning. Stripling is back on track after he was charged with five runs in his last outing. Stripling entered the bottom of the fifth inning with the Blue Jays leading 7-1 but was unable to record an out and missed a chance at recording his ninth win. In the fifth, he allowed the first five batters to record hits, including Dalton Guthrie's first big-league blast, before being replaced. The poor showing ended a streak of 13 starts that Stripling did not allow more than three earned runs. Stripling (8-4) earned the win Wednesday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with four strikeouts over 6.1 innings against the Rays.
The only damage on the night for Stripling came via a solo shot off the bat of Harold Ramirez to lead off the seventh inning. Otherwise, Stripling was effective, as he recorded his sixth straight quality start and got his ERA back under 3.00. With four strikeouts Wednesday, he has 102 on the season through 119 innings. Stripling tentatively lines up to face Philadelphia in his next start.

The right-hander was sharp aside from serving up Josh Jung's first career home run. Stripling exited the game after an efficient 68 pitches (48 strikes) in line for his eighth win before the bullpen coughed up the lead in the eighth inning. He's reeled off five straight quality starts since rejoining the rotation in mid-August, posting a 2.67 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 31:4 K:BB through 30.1 innings over that stretch.
