White Sox's Hanser Alberto: Leaves after being hit in hand
Alberto has left Monday's exhibition game against the Cubs after being hit by a pitch in the right hand, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Van Schouwen notes that Alberto went down to a knee in pain after being plunked, and that he could hear the infielder yell from the press box. It's very likely that Alberto will undergo imaging to see if there is structural damage. The infielder is with the White Sox on a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training, and he has a good chance of making the Opening Day roster if healthy for the start of the season.

White Sox's Hanser Alberto: Fine after HBP exit
Alberto's exit from Monday's exhibition game against the Cubs due to an injury to his right hand was precautionary, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
Alberto appeared to be in a considerable amount of pain after being hit in the right hand by a pitch, but the White Sox say the utility infielder is "fine." He should be considered day-to-day with a good chance of being able to play in the final exhibition games and being ready for Opening Day.

White Sox's Hanser Alberto: Joins South Siders
Alberto agreed Wednesday with the White Sox on a minor-league contract, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
The 30-year-old will likely get the chance to compete for a utility role with the White Sox during spring training. He appeared in 73 games for the Dodgers in 2022, seeing action at all four infield spots while hitting .244 with two home runs, 15 RBI and 13 runs over 159 plate appearances.

Hanser Alberto: Hits free agency
The Dodgers declined Alberto's $2 million club option for 2023 on Tuesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Alberto saw limited opportunities to take the field in 2022 behind the Dodgers' star-studded infield, and he only put up a .623 OPS during the opportunities he did receive. The 30-year-old infielder will likely serve as a bench option in 2023 for the team that signs him in free agency.

Dodgers' Hanser Alberto: Back on bench Wednesday
Alberto will return to the bench for Wednesday's game against the Giants, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
As per usual, the righty-hitting Alberto is on the bench with the Giants bringing a right-hander (Alex Cobb) to the hill. Alberto, who went 2-for-5 with a run scored in Tuesday's 9-5 win against the Giants and southpaw Alex Wood, should continue to make frequent starts when the Dodgers oppose lefties.

Dodgers' Hanser Alberto: Hitless in return
Alberto (knee) went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Monday's 5-3 win over the Rockies.
Alberto was sidelined by a knee injury Sunday, but he was able to return earlier than initially expected. He's appeared in only 12 games since the start of June, going 4-for-24 (.167) in that span, so he's not expected to be a lineup regular. He could see some starts at second base and third base against southpaws.

Dodgers' Hanser Alberto: Returning earlier than expected
Alberto (knee) is in the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.

Dodgers' Hanser Alberto: Likely out through Tuesday
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indicated Sunday that the team intends to stay away from Alberto (knee) for three days, though he could be available in an emergency, Sarah Wexler of MLB.com reports.
Alberto recently relieved an injection to help alleviate his knee pain, but the team still intends to keep him out of action for at least three days. However, the utility man has reportedly responded well to the injection and isn't expected to need a stint on the injured list. Alberto didn't play Sunday and isn't likely to get into either of Monday or Tuesday's contests against Colorado.

Dodgers' Hanser Alberto: On bench with knee issue
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Alberto is available off the bench for Sunday's game against the Padres in a pinch-hitting capacity due to a knee issue, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
With left-hander MacKenzie Gore on the hill for San Diego, the righty-hitting Alberto would have been a candidate to pick up a start, but the knee issue thwarted those plans. Roberts relayed that Alberto has responded well since receiving a pain-killing injection to address the soreness in the knee, so the 29-year-old doesn't look as though he'll be in danger of landing on the injured list.

Alberto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Pirates.
Batting out of the No. 9 slot, Alberto was one of two Dodgers to collect multiple hits in the contest. He produced the team's first run when he took Zach Thompson deep to left field in the fifth inning. Dodgers' Hanser Alberto: Draws ninth start of season
Alberto will start at second base and bat ninth in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Diamondbacks, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
He'll crack the lineup for only the ninth time all season, with all of his starts coming out of the No. 7 spot in the batting order or lower. Alberto should retreat to his normal bench role for the nightcap Tuesday, when Gavin Lux is expected to re-enter the starting nine after sitting out the matinee affair.

Dodgers' Hanser Alberto: Second start coming soon
Manager Dave Roberts said he expects to include Alberto in the starting lineup Tuesday against Atlanta, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
The Dodgers are facing a lefty (Max Fried) on Tuesday, and Roberts feels Alberto and his 113 wRC+ career mark versus southpaws will allow the lineup to remain strong while one of Los Angeles' everyday players -- presumably the lefty-hitting Gavin Lux -- gets a day off. Through Los Angeles' first nine games, Alberto has appeared in only three contests while logging five at-bats in total.

Dodgers' Hanser Alberto: Joins Dodgers in Arizona
Alberto was present in the Dodgers' clubhouse Tuesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Alberto had previously been delayed by visa issues, but that problem appears to be resolved. The utility infielder agreed to a deal with Los Angeles last week, but he'll presumably need to pass a physical before the signing is official, per Toribio.

Dodgers' Hanser Alberto: Delayed by visa issues
Alberto has yet to report for Dodgers' spring training due to visa issues, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Alberto inked a one-year deal with the Dodgers last week, but travel issues have prevented him from joining the team. The 29-year-old hit .270/.291/.402 with two home runs, 25 runs and 24 RBI in 103 games for Kansas City last year and should work as a utility infielder with Los Angeles.

Dodgers' Hanser Alberto: Links up with Dodgers
Alberto agreed Sunday with the Dodgers on a one-year contract, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, Alberto's contract is an MLB deal, so he'll be added to the Dodgers' 40-man roster and therefore should be in good position to make the Opening Day club as a reserve infielder. While receiving 1,036 plate appearances between stops with the Orioles and Royals over the past three seasons, Alberto's high-contact approach has yielded a .292 batting average, but a lack of power and speed along with his presence in relatively weak lineups hasn't made him an especially interesting fantasy commodity. He'll get an upgrade in team context with the move to Los Angeles, but unless the Dodgers' position depth is severely tested in 2022, Alberto may not play enough to warrant intrigue even in NL-only leagues.

Hanser Alberto: Hits free agency
Alberto cleared outright waivers and was released by the Royals on Friday.
Alberto appeared in 103 games for Kansas City in 2021 and posted a .693 OPS in 255 plate appearances, and the team didn't want to carry him on the 40-man roster further into the offseason. The 29-year-old may need to settle for a minor-league deal this offseason and attempt to make a big-league roster during spring training.
