  • Dodgers' Chris Taylor: Homers twice Sunday

Taylor went 3-for-3 with two homers and three runs scored in Sunday's 11-10 loss against Tampa Bay. Taylor smacked a pair of solo shots off Rays starter Josh Fleming, loudly ending a 14-game stretch without a homer. Sunday's performance may be what Taylor needed to get back on track -- he'd gone just 5-for-36 with a .406 OPS since May 9. Overall, the 32-year-old utility man is batting .213/.276/.500 with nine homers, 21 RBI, 20 runs scored and four stolen bases in 134 plate appearances this season.

Taylor is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Rays, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Taylor is not in the starting lineup Thursday against the Cardinals. Taylor went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Wednesday's series finale versus the Twins and is batting just .186 with a .250 on-base percentage through 112 plate appearances for the season. Granted, the 32-year-old utilityman has still managed to tally seven home runs, 17 RBI, four stolen bases and 17 runs scored. He could appear off the bench at some point in Thursday's series opener in St. Louis.

  • Dodgers' Chris Taylor: Hits seventh homer

Taylor hit a two-run home run in his only at-bat against Milwaukee on Monday. Taylor began the contest on the bench before being called up on to pinch hit for Michael Busch in the ninth inning. The veteran utility man came through with a two-run shot to center field, though it didn't make much of an impact on the outcome since the Dodgers still trailed 9-3 after the long ball. Taylor was batting an ugly .145 as recently as April 29, but he's come alive since then, slashing .429/.478/.952 with two homers, three doubles, a triple, seven runs, seven RBI and two steals over his past seven contests.

  • Dodgers' Chris Taylor: Provides offense in close win

Taylor went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Padres. The Dodgers mustered only three hits and five walks in the contest, but Taylor's fourth-inning blast was all the offense they needed in the win. He's gone 7-for-16 (.438) with five extra-base hits, five RBI, two steals and six runs scored over his last five games. The utility man is slashing just .205/.267/.500 with six homers, 15 RBI, 14 runs and three stolen bases across 86 plate appearances this season, though his hitting is trending in the right direction.

  • Dodgers' Chris Taylor: Triple, stolen base in win

Taylor went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Phillies. Taylor's speed was on display in Wednesday's victory. The 32-year-old utilityman legged out a one-out triple in the seventh inning before scoring on Freddie Freeman's sacrifice fly. Taylor then got the Dodgers started in the ninth with a single before swiping second base -- his third steal of the year -- and eventually scoring on Max Muncy's walkoff grand slam. Taylor now has three consecutive multi-hit games, going 6-for-11 with five extra-base hits in that span after a slow start to the season. He's now slashing .205/.272/.479 with five home runs, 13 RBI and 13 runs scored through 81 plate appearances. Taylor should continue to see regular playing time for Los Angeles, thanks to his positional versatility.

  • Dodgers' Chris Taylor: Ignites offense from No. 9 hole

Taylor went 2-for-4 with a double, a run, an RBI and a stolen base in a 6-3 win against the Cardinals on Sunday. Taylor had one of his best offensive games of the campaign, notching multiple hits for just the second time. The utility man drove in a run with his first double of the season in the fourth inning and scored on a sacrifice fly after singling, stealing second and reaching third on a wild pitch in the eighth. Taylor still has a long way to go to bring his slash line, which currently sits at .167/.222/.409, up to a respectable level.

  • Dodgers' Chris Taylor: Clubs fifth homer

Taylor went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 8-7 win over the Pirates. The veteran utility player was the hero in this one, taking Colin Holderman deep in the eighth inning for what proved to be the game-winning hit. Taylor's stumbled out of the gate in 2023, batting .163 (8-for-49) through 17 games, but three of his last five hits have left the yard, giving him five homers and 10 RBI.

  • Dodgers' Chris Taylor: Out of lineup Sunday

Taylor isn't starting in Sunday's game against the Cubs. Taylor returned from a side injury to start at shortstop in Saturday's win, going 0-for-3 with a walk and his first stolen base of the campaign. However, Mookie Betts is making his first career start at shortstop Sunday, with Miguel Vargas starting at second base and Jason Heyward in right field. Though Taylor appears to have moved past the injury, he's not being used as an everyday player this season, so it's not surprising to see his name out of the lineup.

Taylor (side) remains out of the lineup Wednesday against the Mets. Taylor was removed from Monday's 8-6 loss in the series opener with left side soreness and has now missed two straight starts. Roberts also indicated that Taylor is likely to be sidelined for at least a couple days. Before exiting the contest, Taylor went 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts. He's struggled to a .125/.200/.425 slash line and a 40 percent strikeout rate through 45 plate appearances this season.

  • Dodgers' Chris Taylor: Belts fourth homer

Taylor went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Sunday's loss to the Cubs. Taylor kicked off the scoring in the contest with a solo shot to left field in the third inning, and he scored Los Angeles' only other run after drawing a walk in the seventh. Though he's batting a paltry .135 though 37 at-bats, four of Taylor's five hits have left the park. He's getting a fair amount of playing time due to his defensive versatility, as he's logged multiple appearances at shortstop, third base and left field early in the campaign. However, Taylor may see his opportunities start to decline if he can't improve upon his current 38.1 percent strikeout rate.

However, the utility man fanned in his second at-bat, giving him 16 strikeouts through 39 plate appearances on the season. Taylor's 41.0 percent strikeout rate is third-worst in the majors among players with at least 30 plate appearances.

  • Dodgers' Chris Taylor: Retreats to bench

Taylor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks. For the first time in a week, Miguel Rojas is back in the lineup at shortstop after overcoming a groin injury, resulting in Taylor moving to the bench. While starting each of the past six games, Taylor went 3-for-21 with two home runs and four RBI. Taylor's ability to play multiple infield and outfield spots should give him a pathway to holding down at least semi-regular playing time, though the return of Rojas undoubtedly hurts his outlook to some degree.
