Garrett signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Monday that includes an invitation to spring training, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Murray says Garrett will receive a $1.35 million salary if he's in the big leagues. The left-handed reliever holds a 5.06 ERA with 81 walks over 117.1 innings since the beginning of the 2021 season. He also has 138 strikeouts across that span, though, and is still just 31, so he seems worthy of a dice roll on a non-guaranteed deal.

He gave up solo home runs to Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor on consecutive pitches and ran into more trouble after that, before Collin Snider also allowed one of the runners he inherited from Garrett to score. The southpaw had pitched three consecutive scoreless innings since coming back from a month-long absence with an elbow injury. In seven outings in June, Garrett has allowed six runs in 4.2 innings, though he's given up multiple runs in two of those appearances while generating scoreless efforts in another four. The southpaw is still struggling with consistency nearly halfway through the season, posting a 6.38 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 21:15 K:BB across 18.1 innings. Walks have long been a problem for Garrett, but he's posted a particularly poor 7.4 BB/9 this year; that's not only the worst mark of his career, but it's also largely nullified the benefits of a .238 BABIP.
