Farmer went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run against the White Sox in a 10-2 win Thursday. Farmer's blast in the seventh inning gave the Twins a 6-0 lead and marked the end of Chicago starter Jose Urena's outing. It was the second straight game with a long ball for Farmer, marking the second time he has gone deep in back-to-back contests this season. Farmer is slashing .254/.311/.424 with 11 home runs, 36 RBI, 42 runs and one stolen base across 106 contests on the campaign.... See More ... See Less

Twins' Kyle Farmer: Blasts three-run homer
Farmer went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run in Monday's 20-6 win over the Guardians. Farmer slugged one of the Twins' three home runs against position player David Fry, who covered the final four innings of the contest to save the Guardians bullpen in a game Cleveland was already trailing by 10 runs when he took over in the top of the sixth. The 33-year-old utility player is now up to nine home runs on the season, with three coming in his last seven games.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Filling in for resting Julien
Farmer will start at third base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Rangers. Farmer will pick up a start against Texas lefty Jordan Montgomery while the lefty-hitting Edouard Julien exits the lineup. Though he's posted an .840 OPS since the All-Star break, Farmer's opportunities are likely to be limited mostly to facing left-handed pitching while the Minnesota infield is at close to full strength.... Twins' Kyle Farmer: Belts homer in win
Farmer went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks in Tuesday's 10-3 win over the Mariners. After a 23-game span with no homers, Farmer's gone deep in two of his last three games. The infielder is up to six long balls, 21 RBI, 29 runs scored and one stolen base while slashing .246/.313/.393 over 66 contests this season. Farmer should remain a fixture in the lineup versus left-handed pitchers, but he may lose more time against righties once Jorge Polanco (hamstring) returns from the injured list.... See More ... Twins' Kyle Farmer: Breaks homer drought
Farmer went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two additional RBI in Saturday's win over the Athletics. After going without a home run for 23 games, Farmer took Freddy Tarnok yard in the seventh inning for his fifth long ball of the campaign. The multi-hit effort broke Farmer out of a slump during which he batted 5-for-34 (.147) over 14 games.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Pops fourth homer
Farmer went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Brewers. Getting the start at second base and batting seventh, Farmer chased Corbin Burnes from the game by leading off the seventh inning with his fourth homer of the season. The 32-year-old infielder has started only two of the last seven games, and with Edouard Julien getting a look at the keystone and Royce Lewis handling the hot corner, playing time will likely be scarce for Farmer despite his solid .270/.328/.393 slash line on the season.... Twins' Kyle Farmer: Moves back to bench Monday
Farmer is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros. With Royce Lewis (knee) starting at third base in his return from the 60-day injured list and with Carlos Correa having recently overcome a foot issue, Farmer no longer appears to have a clear path to steady playing time on the left side of the infield. He could challenge Edouard Julien for work at the keystone, but neither player will be anything more than a stopgap solution at the position with Jorge Polanco (hamstring) seemingly close to a return from the 10-day IL. After starting in each of the last nine games, Farmer looks set to see a big downturn in opportunities while he transitions into more of a utility role.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Racks up three hits
Farmer went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Angels. Farmer has logged multiple hits in four of his last six contests, and he's driven in at least one run in five of those games. The 32-year-old continues to hit well, with his latest strong game lifting his season slash line to .319/.377/.478 with three home runs, 14 RBI, 15 runs scored and two doubles through 77 plate appearances.... Twins' Kyle Farmer: Sitting Wednesday
Farmer is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Dodgers. Farmer will take a seat after he went 3-for-9 with a solo homer, four RBI, two walks and two strikeouts over the first two games of the series. The 32-year-old's hit streak has now reached seven games, and he's batting .370 with two home runs, seven RBI, six run scored and three walks over that stretch. Willi Castro will draw the start at third base and bat eighth in the series finale with Los Angeles on Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Opens and closes scoring
Farmer went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk and three RBI in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Dodgers. Farmer continues to hit well since returning from a mouth injury, going 10-for-27 (370) over his last seven contests. He provided an RBI single to open the scoring in the first inning Tuesday, then gave the Twins some insurance with a two-run homer in the ninth. The infielder is up to a .293/.364/.483 slash line with three long balls, 12 RBI, 12 runs scored and two doubles through 18 games.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Batting cleanup Friday
Farmer is batting cleanup for the Twins on Friday against the Cubs, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. Farmer is 2-for-6 with a homer since returning Wednesday from surgery to repair his lower lip and bottom teeth, the aftermath of a brutal hit-by-pitch to the jaw back in early April. He could continue to get semi-everyday looks at third base as Jose Miranda works on his craft at Triple-A St. Paul.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Belts homer in win
Farmer went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a 5-3 win against San Diego on Thursday. Farmer showed some muscle with a game-tying, 433-foot blast off Yu Darvish in the fourth inning. It was just his second homer of the campaign, though he's played in only 13 contests due to an extended IL stint. Farmer was in an 0-for-11 cold spell prior to hitting the injured list, but he has gone 2-for-6 in two contests since his return.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Goes 1-for-3 in return
Farmer (mouth) went 1-for-3 in Wednesday's 4-3 extra-innings win over the Padres. Farmer missed nearly a month after needing surgery to repair the damage from when he got hit by a pitch versus the White Sox on April 12. The versatile infielder went 0-for-11 in the four games before his injury. He's slashing .235/.289/.353 with a home run, five RBI, six runs scored and no stolen bases through 38 plate appearances this season. Farmer and Willi Castro are expected to share time at third base following Jose Miranda's demotion to Triple-A St. Paul. If it becomes a strict platoon, the righty-hitting Farmer would be on the short side of it.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Returns from IL
The Twins reinstated Farmer (mouth) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday. In order to create room for Farmer on the 26-man active roster, the Twins optioned everyday third baseman Jose Miranda to Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. Miranda had been in the midst of a prolonged slump at the plate and may be in store for only a brief stint in the minors to regain confidence with the bat, but in the meantime, Farmer and Willi Castro could be in store for increased opportunities at the hot corner. Farmer bats from the right side while Castro is a switch hitter, so it's possible that Castro ends up serving as a strong-side platoon option while Farmer picks up most of his starts against left-handed pitching.... Twins' Kyle Farmer: Activation imminent
Farmer (mouth) will go through pregame workouts with the Twins on Tuesday but will not be activated prior to their game against the Padres, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. His activation is imminent, however, with manager Rocco Baldelli saying it "could be tomorrow, could be the next day, could be the day after that." Farmer had another scheduled dental procedure Monday as he continues to work his way back from being hit in the face with a pitch last month.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Could be activated Tuesday
Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Sunday that Farmer (mouth) is "really close" to being activated from the 10-day injured list, with the transaction expected to come as soon as Tuesday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Farmer is out of the lineup for Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday after going 3-for-11 with two doubles and a walk through the first three games of his rehab assignment. He's scheduled to undergo a procedure Monday to get some wires removed from his mouth, but assuming all goes well, Farmer could be cleared to resume game action with the big club. Once he's reinstated, Farmer will likely serve as a utility infielder for Minnesota.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Set to begin rehab assignment
Farmer (face) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday and hopes to be activated from the injured list May 9, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. He'll play with St. Paul for a week before undergoing oral surgery to remove wires in his jaw on May 8 that sounds like the last steep in his recovery process. Farmer underwent surgery on his lower lip and bottom teeth after being struck by a pitch in the face April 12.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Begins working out
Farmer, who had surgery to reset four of his bottom teeth and suture lacerations on his lip after getting hit by a pitch, was at Target Field on Thursday getting a workout in, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Farmer did not suffer a fractured jaw or a concussion and did not need his jaw wired shut after getting struck in the face by a Lucas Giolito pitch last week, so he may be able to return sooner than first expected. There's no timetable for his return, but it sounds like he's making progress.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Placed on injured list
Farmer was placed on the 10-day injured list by the Twins on Thursday with a facial injury, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. Farmer underwent surgery Wednesday on his lower lip and bottom teeth after being struck by a pitch in the face versus the White Sox. He was able to avoid a fractured jaw and a concussion, so things could have been worse. It's not clear when Farmer might be back.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Has successful dental surgery
Farmer underwent successful surgery on his lower lip and bottom teeth Wednesday. Farmer luckily avoided a fractured jaw after getting hit in the face in the fourth inning of Wednesday's 3-1 win over the White Sox. He's set to have external stitches removed in a week, making a stint on the 10-day injured list all but certain for the 32-year-old utility infielder. Kyle Garlick is a prime candidate to receive a call-up from Triple-A St. Paul to replace Farmer as a right-handed bat off the bench.... See More ... See Less
