  • Rangers' Jonah Heim: Knocks in four

Heim went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI in Tuesday's 10-6 win over Detroit. Heim, who is working on a nice little four-game hit streak, delivered runners in scoring position on three consecutive at-bats, raising his RBI total to 38 over 46 games. The 27-year-old catcher is 19-for-40 (.475) when presented with RISP.

  • Rangers' Jonah Heim: Fresh after two-day break

Heim went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 5-3 win over Baltimore. Heim returned to the lineup following a two-day respite. The catcher entered Saturday's game in a 1-for-23 stretch, but the time off appears to be what was needed. He fell off in the second half of 2022 after a strong start, and the Rangers are expected to take steps to prevent a similar situation this season.

  • Rangers' Jonah Heim: Absent from lineup

Heim is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Baltimore. It looks to be a routine day off for Heim after he started each of the previous four contests. Sandy Leon has seemed to become Jon Gray's personal catcher of late and will be behind the plate again for him Friday.

  • Rangers' Jonah Heim: Nabs second stolen base

Heim went 0-for-4 with an RBI and a steal in Wednesday's victory over the Pirates. Heim drove in Adolis Garcia on a fielder's choice in the first inning before swiping second base later in the frame. Heim's been struggling after a stellar start to the season, going just 1-for-23 over his last six games. The 27-year-old backstop is still slashing a solid .273/.331/.448 with six home runs, 27 runs scored and 33 RBI through 169 plate appearances this season.

  • Rangers' Jonah Heim: Out of lineup Saturday

Heim is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Rockies. Heim will get a breather after he went 3-for-18 with two RBI, two runs scored, two walks and four punchouts while starting the last five games. Sandy Leon will take over behind the plate and bat ninth against Colorado.

  • Rangers' Jonah Heim: Sitting Saturday

Heim will sit Saturday against Oakland. Heim is off to an excellent start this season, hitting .319/.379/.546 with six homers. That's led to a heavy workload, as he started 11 of the last 13 games behind the plate prior to Saturday's off day. Sandy Leon will catch Jon Gray in Heim's absence.

  • Rangers' Jonah Heim: Delivers winning run

Heim went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Monday's 2-1 win over Seattle. Heim plated the game-winning run as part of the Rangers' two-run uprising in the seventh inning. He ranks third on the team and 11th overall in the majors with 27 RBI.

  • Rangers' Jonah Heim: Drives in three

Heim went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 10-1 win over the Angels. Heim continues to perform as one of the best-hitting catchers in MLB. He ranks second at the position in RBI (26), average (.305) and slugging (.568), and fourth in OBP (.374). The 27-year-old backstop is expected to serve as the team's primary catcher until Mitch Garver (knee) becomes available -- Texas manager Bruce Bochy recently targeted a May 23 return -- and likely remain in the role going forward, given Garver's injury history and the team's desire to sustain his availability for the rest of the season by using him as a DH at times.

  • Rangers' Jonah Heim: Registers first steal

Heim went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in Friday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Angels. Heim has gone 10-for-24 (.417) at the plate over his last six contests, adding two home runs, five RBI and six runs scored in that span. While he didn't generate any scoring Friday, he was able to record his first steal of the campaign. The catcher is slashing .300/.373/.578 with six homers, 23 RBI, 18 runs scored and seven doubles through 102 plate appearances.

  • Rangers' Jonah Heim: Homers in loss

Heim went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 12-7 loss to Arizona. Heim gave the Rangers an early lead with a second-inning home run, his sixth homer and 13th extra-base hit in 25 games. His .959 OPS is second on the team, as Heim has opened this season much like he did in 2022. The Rangers hope to avoid the second-half collapse the 27-year-old experienced last season. The team envisioned more of a job share at catcher, but Mitch Garver's knee injury has forced Heim into the lineup more than expected -- Wednesday was his eighth consecutive start. Cognizant of last year's collapse, Texas manager Bruce Bochy had him DH on Wednesday, the second time in six games he's served in that capacity.

  • Rangers' Jonah Heim: Goes long in blowout win

Heim went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 15-2 win over the Yankees. Heim pulverized Yankees pitching Sunday. He kicked things off with a double in the fourth and followed that up with a solo blast to right center in the fifth. The 28-year-old came back up with the bases loaded in the sixth and plated two with another double. It has been a dream start to the season for Heim, who's now slashing .303/.386/.592 with five homers, 22 RBI, 16 runs and a 10:14 BB:K over 88 plate appearances. He leads all catchers and is now tied for sixth in the majors with 22 RBI.

  • Rangers' Jonah Heim: Homers again

Heim went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Athletics. Heim was part of a four-run outburst in the first inning, but starter Jon Gray gave it all back, and Texas dropped the first game of the series. It was the second straight at-bat with a three-run home run for Heim, who finished off Thursday's win over the Royals with a ninth-inning homer. He has four homers and 14 RBI through 14 games. With news that Mitch Garver (knee) will need at least another month, Heim will continue on as the primary catcher. He thrived last season in the role until slumping after July when he reached a career high in plate appearances.

It was the third homer of the season for the catcher, who has a .941 OPS and has knocked in 11 runs through 13 games. With Mitch Garver's knee injury expected to keep him out through the beginning of May, Heim becomes the primary catcher, with Sandy Leon backing him up. Heim has started eight of the last 10 games.

Heim is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Phillies. Heim drew the nod behind the plate Opening Day and went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI in Thursday's 11-7 win. Though he'll take a seat Saturday and give way to Mitch Garver behind the dish, Heim is still expected to be the Rangers' preferred option at catcher more often than not.
