Sierra was reassigned to minor-league camp Tuesday. Sierra will most likely return to Triple-A, where he slashed .297/.358/.437 and drove in 45 RBI through 311 plate appearances last season. He also stole 22 bases. There's a chance he appears in some games this season for Atlanta, and if so, most of his value will come from swiping bags.... See More ... See Less

Braves' Magneuris Sierra: Heads to Atlanta on NRI deal
Sierra agreed Monday with Atlanta on a minor-league contract and received an invitation to MLB spring training, Chris Harris of the Mississippi Braves reports. A former top prospect, Sierra has not been able to find success against major-league pitching, and he posted just a .442 OPS over 96 plate appearances in 45 games with the Angels last year. His speed and defense does give him an outside chance of making the major-league squad out of spring training, but it would assuredly be in a role that offers no fantasy intrigue.... See More ... Angels' Magneuris Sierra: Clears waivers
The Angels outrighted Sierra to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday. Sierra was one of three Angels recently designated for assignment to clear waivers, with pitcher Mike Mayers and first baseman Mike Ford also getting outrighted to Triple-A on Sunday. The 26-year-old Sierra is eligible to become a free agent this offseason and may have to settle for a minor-league deal after slashing .165/.200/.242 across 96 plate appearances with the Angels in 2022.... Angels' Magneuris Sierra: Loses roster spot
The Angels designated Sierra for assignment following Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Athletics, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Catching prospect Logan O'Hoppe will be called up from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday to take Sierra's spot on the 40-man roster and 28-man active roster. Sierra had been up with the big club since late July and slashed .165/.200/.242 over 65 games while mostly serving as a reserve outfielder.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Magneuris Sierra: Back in fourth-outfielder role
Sierra is out of the lineup for Sunday's game in Detroit. Heading into the weekend, Sierra had started five consecutive contests in center field, but he'll be a full-time reserve now that Mike Trout has made his return from the injured list. The Angels will roll out an outfield of Jo Adell, Trout and Taylor Ward from left to right in the series finale.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Magneuris Sierra: On bench Friday
Sierra isn't starting Friday against the Twins, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Sierra went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI, two steals and a strikeout Wednesday against the Athletics but will be held out of the lineup for the second time in the last three games. Steven Duggar is starting in center field and batting ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Magneuris Sierra: Drives in two, swipes two bags
Sierra went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and two stolen bases Wednesday against the Athletics. Sierra has become a regular in the Angels' lineup, having started seven of the team's 11 games since Aug. 1. Prior to Wednesday's big game, he hadn't done much with the opportunity by hitting only .217 with three runs scored in 24 plate appearances in that span. While he isn't a good bet to provide well-rounded production, Sierra has managed four stolen bases across 16 games on the season.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Magneuris Sierra: Heads to bench Tuesday
Sierra is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Athletics, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Sierra started the past three games with Mickey Moniak suffering a broken finger during Saturday's doubleheader, but Steven Duggar will take over in center field Tuesday. Sierra and Duggar could split reps in the outfield with Moniak potentially out for the year and with Mike Trout (ribs) not particularly close to a return.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Magneuris Sierra: Could replace Moniak in CF
Sierra will start in center field in Sunday's game in Seattle. After starting in left field in Saturday's 7-1 win in the second half of a doubleheader and going 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored, Sierra will slide over to center in the series finale. He could find a regular home at the position moving forward, as Mickey Moniak was diagnosed with a fractured left middle finger following the doubleheader and could be in danger of missing the rest of the season. The Angels claimed Steven Duggar off waivers from the Rangers on Sunday and could have him step in as a potential replacement for Moniak, but Sierra will get the first crack at the center-field job.... Angels' Magneuris Sierra: Back in bench role
Sierra is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Sierra had started the past three games, but he's poised to fade into a reserve role with the Angels set to give the newly acquired Mickey Moniak a look in the everyday role in center field, which was vacated when Brandon Marsh was moved to Philadelphia in the same trade. Since getting called up from Triple-A Salt Lake on July 24, Sierra has gone 4-for-21 with two stolen bases and two runs.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Magneuris Sierra: Two steals in Tuesday's win
Sierra went 2-for-4 with a pair of stolen bases and a run scored in Tuesday's 6-0 win over the Royals. Tuesday marked Sierra's first start for the Angels, and he played center field while batting eighth. He was one of two Angels with multiple hits, and added some speed by twice stealing third base in the fifth and seventh innings. The 26-year-old outfielder racked up 22 steals in 76 contests with Triple-A Salt Lake, so his success on the basepaths shouldn't come as much surprise. He entered Tuesday as a .240 career hitter across 234 games, so it's fair to question if his batting will earn him much playing time while Mike Trout (ribs) is out.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Magneuris Sierra: Contract selected by Angels
Sierra had his contract selected by the Angels on Sunday. Sierra will make his way to the major-league roster for the first time this season, joining the Angels ahead of their series finale with Atlanta. The outfielder has produced a .297 average with seven homers, 45 RBI, 49 runs and 22 stolen bases over 279 at-bats in 76 games with Triple-A Salt Lake this season. Jonathan Villar was designated for assignment Sunday to open a roster spot for Sierra.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Magneuris Sierra: Reassigned to minor-league camp
Sierra was reassigned to minor-league spring training Wednesday. Sierra served as a non-roster invitee for the Angels this year after appearing in 123 games for Miami in 2021, but he was unable to land a spot on the Opening Day roster. He went 3-for-16 with a double, a run, a walk and six strikeouts across 10 Cactus League games this spring.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Magneuris Sierra: Outrighted to Triple-A
Sierra was outrighted to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Sierra saw inconsistent playing time with the major-league club in 2021 and will now lose his spot on the 40-man roster. Across 123 games with the Marlins last year, he hit .230 with 27 runs, five RBI and 11 stolen bases.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Magneuris Sierra: Swipes bag in win
Sierra stole a base as a pinch runner in Wednesday's 8-6 win over Washington. The 25-year-old has mainly been confined to a bench role lately, but he's been able to record two stolen bases through nine games in September. Sierra has 11 steals through 209 plate appearances this year, but with no path to regular playing time at the moment, he's stuck in an inconsistent reserve role.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Magneuris Sierra: On bench again Saturday
Sierra is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. The outfielder struck out in a pinch-hit appearance Friday and is now hitting .179 in 28 at-bats since the beginning of August. Lewis Brinson is playing center field and batting cleanup Saturday.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Magneuris Sierra: Not starting Friday
Sierra isn't starting Friday's game against the Cubs, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Sierra went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and a strikeout Tuesday, but he'll be out of the lineup for a second consecutive game. Lewis Brinson will take over in center field while Jorge Alfaro continues to get work in left.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Magneuris Sierra: On bench against southpaw
Sierra isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Padres, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Sierra has formed a platoon with Lewis Brinson in the outfield after Starling Marte was traded to Oakland at the end of August, and the 25-year-old will retreat to the bench with southpaw Ryan Weathers on the mound for the Padres on Wednesday. Brinson will take over in center field while Jorge Alfaro starts in left.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Magneuris Sierra: Riding pine Saturday
Sierra isn't starting Saturday's game against the Rockies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Sierra has been in a slump recently in which he's gone 1-for-18 with an RBI, a stolen base and three strikeouts across the last seven games. Jorge Alfaro, Lewis Brinson and Bryan De La Cruz will start in the outfield from left to right.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Magneuris Sierra: Sitting again Wednesday
Sierra is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Sierra has a .483 OPS in 16 games sine the All-Star break and finds himself on the bench for the second straight game. Lewis Brinson will receive another start in center field in his place....
