Narvaez is not listed in the Mets' lineup Friday against Miami, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Mets' Omar Narvaez: Smacks first spring homer
Narvaez went 2-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays.
The sixth-inning shot off Kyle Crick was the catcher's first homer of the spring. Narvaez will split time behind the plate with Tomas Nido this season -- at least until top prospect Francisco Alvarez is deemed ready. After a slow start to his spring prior to leaving for the WBC, Narvaez is now batting .300 (6-for-20).

Mets' Omar Narvaez: Quiet at plate this spring
Narvaez went 1-for-3 in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals.
The hit was just his second of the spring for the Mets in 15 at-bats, with both of them being singles. Narvaez also went 1-for-4 in his only start for Venezuela during the WBC. The 31-year-old catcher signed a one-year deal this offseason to be the Mets' No. 1 catcher to begin the year largely on the strength of his defense and pitch-framing, and he could work in a platoon with Tomas Nido. The team will be hoping Francisco Alvarez plays well enough at Triple-A Syracuse to push Narvaez aside at some point in 2023, however.

Mets' Omar Narvaez: Short-term deal with Mets
Narvaez signed a one-year, $8 million contract that includes a player option for 2024 with the Mets on Thursday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Narvaez has spent the last three seasons as Milwaukee's primary backstop. He had a poor 2022 campaign with the bat, as he hit just .206/.292/.305 across 296 plate appearances. However, Narvaez is considered an excellent framer and should be a solid complement to Francisco Alvarez (ankle) -- a bat-first catcher. As things currently stand, James McCann and Tomas Nido are also on the Mets' 40-man roster, so it's unclear exactly how playing time will be divided.

Brewers' Omar Narvaez: On bench against lefty
Narvaez will sit Friday against the Reds.
Friday's start Nick Lodolo marks the fourth straight left-handed starter the Brewers have faced. Narvaez started just one of those games, and he was only pressed into service because the Giants trotted out southpaws in both halves of Thursday's doubleheader. The Reds are expected to turn to righties in both remaining weekend games in this series, so expect Narvaez to return to the lineup for those contests. Victor Caratini starts behind the plate Friday.
