Drew Jackson: Cuts ties with San Francisco
The Giants released Jackson from his minor-league contract Aug. 23.
The 29-year-old utility infielder has now been cut loose by both organizations in the Bay Area this season, as Oakland previously released him in July. Jackson, who appeared in three games with the Athletics earlier this season as a COVID-19 replacement player, saw action exclusively at Triple-A Sacramento during his time in the Giants organization and batted .200 over 10 games.

Giants' Drew Jackson: Staying in Bay Area
Jackson signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Thursday, Melissa Lockard of The Athletic reports. He was assigned to Triple-A Sacramento.
Jackson was released by the Athletics on July 29, but he found a new organization quickly. The infielder slashed .243/.353/.297 with Triple-A Las Vegas prior to his release, and he also made three plate appearances with the A's in the majors. He'll likely spend most of the rest of the season at Sacramento.

Jackson was released by the Athletics on Friday, Melissa Lockard of The Athletic reports.
Jackson had a brief stint with the major-league club in mid-April but has spent most of his season at Triple-A Las Vegas. He hit .243 with a homer, 19 runs, 14 RBI and eight stolen bases over 50 minor-league games to begin the year and will now seek out other opportunities.

Athletics' Drew Jackson: Activated, heads back to Triple-A
The Athletics activated Jackson (illness) from the COVID-19 injured list Tuesday and returned him to Triple-A Las Vegas, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Jackson was called up from Las Vegas as a COVID-19 replacement before testing positive for the virus just over a week later. He's since cleared all COVID-19-related protocols, but with the Athletics' minor outbreak of the virus having been resolved, the journeyman infielder will head back to the minors. He'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster in the process.

Athletics' Drew Jackson: Joins major-league club
Jackson's contract was selected by the Athletics on Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Athletics' Drew Jackson: Headed to Vegas
The Athletics reassigned Jackson to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday, Melissa Lockard of The Athletic reports.
Though he's in the lineup Monday for the Athletics' penultimate Cactus League game, Jackson ultimately didn't distinguish himself enough as a non-roster invitee to join the big club for Opening Day. Jackson will open the upcoming season in Las Vegas, hoping to play well enough to push his way to the big leagues for the first time since 2019, when he received a cup of coffee with the Orioles.

Athletics' Drew Jackson: Gets MiLB deal with A's
Jackson signed a minor-league contract with the Athletics on Dec. 3.
Jackson will likely begin the 2022 campaign at Triple-A Las Vegas and will presumably serve as a utility man after he picked up starts at every position save for catcher and pitcher in 2021 while playing for the Mets' Triple-A affiliate in Syracuse. The 28-year-old, whose lone big-league action came in three games with the Orioles in 2019, slashed .251/.397/.416 with nine home runs and 24 stolen bases across 309 plate appearances for Syracuse last season.

Dodgers' Drew Jackson: Rejoins Dodgers
Jackson cleared waivers and was returned to the Dodgers on Wednesday, Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Jackson cracked the Opening Day roster after being selected in the Rule 5 draft and went 0-for-3 with one walk before being designated for assignment by the Orioles. The 25-year-old slashed .251/.356/.447 with 15 home runs at Double-A Tulsa in 2018.

Orioles' Drew Jackson: Designated for assignment
Jackson was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Friday.
Jackson made the team as a utility player after being taken in the Rule 5 draft, but he's received just four plate appearances so far this season. He'll be offered back to the Dodgers if he clears waivers. The move makes room for the newly-signed Dan Straily.

Orioles' Drew Jackson: Gets first MLB start
Jackson will start in center field and hit seventh Saturday against the Yankees, Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports.
A Rule 5 pick, Jackson earned his place on the Opening Day roster on the strength of a strong spring training and through his abilities to play multiple infield and outfield spots. While he's tentatively serving as a super-utility option for the Orioles, only Jonathan Villar and Trey Mancini are probably guaranteed regular spots in the lineup. That presents multiple paths to an everyday gig for Jackson, should he perform well enough in his initial opportunities to warrant an elevated role.

Orioles' Drew Jackson: Path to roster spot clearing up
Jackson's chances of making the Opening Day roster increased after the Orioles released Alcides Escobar on Wednesday, Dan Connolly of The Athletic reports.
Jackson will have to remain on the big-league roster all season as a Rule 5 pick. He's battling fellow Rule 5 pick Richie Martin (who was picked first overall in that draft) for the starting job at short, but Escobar's release means there's now room for both to make the team.

Orioles' Drew Jackson: To try out center field
Jackson will spend time in center field this spring, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
As a Rule 5 pick, Jackson will have to find a way to be useful or else he'll need to be offered back to the Dodgers. The Orioles have another Rule 5 shortstop in camp in Richie Martin, so Jackson could be facing an uphill battle. A player who can competently cover the middle infield and center field is a useful option on the bench, though, so if Jackson looks good in center, his odds of sticking with the team would certainly improve.

Orioles' Drew Jackson: Dealt to Orioles
The Phillies traded Jackson to Baltimore on Thursday in exchange for international bonus pool money, Dan Connolly of The Athletic reports.
Prior to be acquired by the Orioles, Jackson was selected with the 11th pick in Thursday's Rule 5 draft by Philadelphia. He spent the past year within the Dodgers' system at the Double-A level, hitting .251 with an .803 OPS, in addition to 15 home runs, 46 RBI and 22 stolen bases. He will provide a little extra middle infield depth for the Orioles, which the club desperately needs, so it shouldn't come as a significant surprise if the 25-year-old finds his way onto the Opening Day roster.

Phillies' Drew Jackson: Scooped by Phillies
Jackson was selected by the Phillies with the 11th pick of the Rule 5 draft.
Jackson has been on the dynasty-league radar for several years due to his plus speed, but it has become apparent in recent years that his hit tool is lacking. He hit .251/.356/.447 with 15 home runs and 22 in steals in 410 plate appearances with the Dodgers' Double-A affiliate, but was in his age-24/25 season, so those numbers don't carry much weight. It will be a challenge for Jackson to make the Phillies' roster out of camp, so he may be returned to the Dodgers.

Jackson tweaked his back Saturday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Jackson, who hurt his back in a rundown, is only expected to be out for a few days. The 24-year-old infielder reached Double-A Tulsa last season, hitting .234/.346/.324 over 29 games.

Dodgers' Drew Jackson: Lands on 7-day DL
Jackson was placed on the 7-day DL at High-A Rancho Cucamonga with an undisclosed injury.
He has been sidelined since May 23 with the ailment, and had cooled off prior to landing on the DL. His batting average had dropped from .267 to .242 in the nine games prior to his injury. On the season he has five home runs and six steals (on 11 attempts) in 37 games after hitting six home runs with 16 steals (on 24 attempts) in 124 games at the same level last season.

Dodgers' Drew Jackson: Off to big start at High-A
Jackson is off to a strong start at High-A Rancho Cucamonga, hitting .281/.397/.509 as the Quakes' leadoff hitter and shortstop.
Jackson led off Sunday's game with a homer, and teammate Will Smith made it back-to-backs. At 23, he's old for the level after arriving from the Mariners' organization, so he might be in line for a quick promotion to Double-A.
