Brady Lail: Accepts coaching role
Lail has joined the minor-league coaching staff of the Phillies.
For his first post-playing-career gig, Lail will operate as the pitching development coordinator for High-A Jersey Shore in 2023. The 29-year-old spent the 2022 season pitching in the independent Atlantic League. He logged only 11 total major-league appearances, all between 2019-21, and he gave up 14 earned runs in 21 innings.

Lail signed a minor-league contract with the Blue Jays on Monday.
Lail pitched for the High Point Rockers of the independent Atlantic League to begin the year, but he'll head to Double-A New Hampshire after inking a minor-league deal with Toronto. Phillies' Brady Lail: Designated for assignment
Lail was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Thursday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Lail made a pair of relief appearances for the Mariners in mid-May before being designated for assignment and claimed by the Phillies. He'll now be designated for assignment again without having earned a big-league opportunity for his new team. There's seemingly a good chance he passes through waivers unclaimed, as he's a 27-year-old with a career 6.00 ERA and a 16.5 percent strikeout rate in 21 major-league innings.

The 27-year-old was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Thursday, and he'll now join a new team. Lail appeared in two games for Seattle and gave up three runs on four hits with one strikeout and zero walks across two innings.

Mariners' Brady Lail: Contract selected by Seattle
Lail's contract was selected by the Mariners on Monday.
Lail has 19 innings of big-league experience to his name, split between three teams. His 5.21 ERA and 17.3 percent strikeout rate in those innings suggests he'll be limited to a lower-leverage role.

Mariners' Brady Lail: Reassigned to minors
Lail was reassigned to minor-league camp Friday.
Lail served as a non-roster invitee this spring but will now report to the minors with just under a week remaining prior to the start of the regular season. The 27-year-old made four Cactus League appearances and posted a 4.50 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in four innings.

Mariners' Brady Lail: Returns to Seattle
Lail signed a minor-league deal with the Mariners on Thursday, Corey Brock of The Athletic reports.
Lail became a free agent in mid-October after refusing an outright assignment to the minors, but he'll wind up in the Mariners' minor-league system after all. The righty recorded a decent 4.41 ERA in 16.1 innings for the White Sox and Mariners last season, though he struck out just 16.9 percent of opposing batters while walking 9.9 percent.

Brady Lail: Bound for free agency
Lail became a free agent Monday after exercising his right to refuse an outright assignment to the minors.
Lail's 4.41 ERA in 16.1 innings this season for the White Sox and Mariners was decent enough, but it took a .200 BABIP and a 93.8 percent strand rate to get there. His 7.35 FIP tells a very different story. As a 27-year-old with an unimpressive 5.21 career ERA in 19 major-league innings, he'll likely be looking for a minor-league deal this winter.

Mariners' Brady Lail: Logs bulk-relief stint Monday
Lail allowed three earned runs on four hits over four innings during the Mariners' loss to the Athletics in the second game of a doubleheader Monday. He struck out one and did not factor into the decision.
The right-hander ate some innings in what was essentially treated as a bullpen game by manager Scott Servais. Lail did surrender a pair of home runs for the second straight outing, as he'd seen two Giants also leave the yard against him during his previous trip to the mound last Tuesday in San Francisco. Lail has shuttled between the alternate training site and the big-league club on multiple occasions since being claimed off waivers from the White Sox on Aug. 10, and that process could repeat itself before the regular season concludes.

Mariners' Brady Lail: Recalled by Seattle
Lail was recalled by the Mariners on Friday.
Lail will return to the Mariners' bullpen after being sent to the alternate training site Wednesday. The right-hander had a rough outing in his last appearance but has been relatively effective otherwise as he carries a 4.82 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over 9.1 innings this year.

Mariners' Brady Lail: Sent to alternate training site
Lail was optioned to the alternate training site Wednesday.
Lail surrendered four runs on five hits over 2.2 innings during Tuesday's contest, and he'll head to the alternate training site in favor of a fresh arm. The 27-year-old gave up only one run over 6.2 innings prior to Tuesday's outing, so he should rejoin the Mariners later on in September.

Mariners' Brady Lail: Joins active roster
Lail was added to the Mariners' active roster Friday.
Lail was claimed off waivers earlier in the week after he was designated for assignment by the White Sox. He'll now join Seattle's bullpen, likely as a lower-leverage arm. The right-hander has been inconsistent over a limited sample of action in the majors.

Mariners' Brady Lail: Claimed by Mariners
Lail was claimed off waivers by the Mariners on Monday.
Lail was cast off the White Sox's 40-man roster Saturday, but he'll claim a spot in Seattle's bullpen going forward. The right-hander has a limited sample in major-league action but was effective in one relief appearance with Chicago this year, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings while giving up two hits and striking out one. He should pitch mainly in lower-leverage situations with the Mariners.

White Sox's Brady Lail: DFA'd by White Sox
Lail was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Saturday.
Lail was effective in one relief appearance after his contract was selected Tuesday, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings while giving up two hits and no walks and striking out one during Friday's contest. However, he'll once again lose his spot on the 40-man roster to make room for Zack Burdi and Drew Anderson on the active squad.

White Sox's Brady Lail: Contract purchased by White Sox
Lail's contract was selected by the White Sox on Tuesday.
Lail will take the roster spot that had belonged to Carlos Rodon (shoulder), who landed on the injured list in a corresponding move. He's been almost exclusively a reliever over the last two seasons, though, so he won't be taking Rodon's place in the rotation and will be presumably ticketed for low-leverage work.

White Sox's Brady Lail: Added to pool
Lail will be part of the White Sox's player pool this season, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
Lail isn't part of the team's main group but will be one of 16 players working out at a satellite camp. The 26-year-old will give the White Sox some bullpen depth this season but is unlikely to be called upon to fill a significant role, as he's thrown just 2.2 big-league innings and owns a poor 5.21 ERA in 321 career Triple-A frames.

Lail was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Wednesday, but he'll remain with the organization after going unclaimed on waivers. The 26-year-old has a 3.97 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 11:1 K:BB over 11.1 innings for the RailRiders.

Yankees' Brady Lail: Designated for assignment
Lail was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Wednesday.
After being demoted to the Triple-A level Monday, Lail was removed from the 40-man roster in order to make room for Ryan Dull, who was claimed off waivers in a corresponding move. In 42 innings at the minor-league level this season, Lail carries an ERA of 2.79 with a 55:13 K:BB, but he failed to convert that into major-league production during his only appearance with the Yankees.
