Athletics' Skye Bolt: Activated, booted off 40-man roster
The Athletics reinstated Bolt (knee) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday and outrighted him to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Bolt is healthy again after finishing off a four-game rehab assignment at Las Vegas over the weekend, but the Athletics don't have a spot available for him on the 28-man active roster and he's out of minor-league options. As a result, Bolt will lose his spot on the 40-man roster, but he'll stick in the organization now that he's already cleared outright waivers. Athletics' Skye Bolt: Doubles in first rehab game
Bolt (knee) went 1-for-4 with a run-scoring groundout and an RBI double in Triple-A Las Vegas' loss to Sacramento on Wednesday.
The fact was Bolt able to play nearly a full game in center field in his rehab debut was of overriding importance, although the contributions with the bat were a nice bonus. Given he was thrust right into action defensively as opposed to being deployed in a DH role Wednesday, Bolt may not need more than another couple of rehab games with the Aviators before being deemed ready for activation.... Athletics' Skye Bolt: Placed on injured list
Bolt was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right knee patella subluxation Friday.
Bolt was hit by a pitch Thursday against the Yankees and will be unavailable for at least a week and a half after being diagnosed with a subluxation. Per the Associated Press, Bolt felt as if his kneecap "slid", but Athletics head trainer Nick Paparesta noted the team doesn't presently believe there is a lot of damage within the knee. Bolt is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

The 28-year-old looks like he could be a candidate to move into a short-side platoon role moving forward, as the Athletics called up lefty-hitting outfielder Cal Stevenson from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.
