Tigers' Mario Feliciano: Claimed by Detroit
Feliciano was claimed off waivers by the Tigers on Wednesday. Feliciano was once a top catching prospect in the Brewers' farm system, but he was designated for assignment by Milwaukee last week. He'll land with the Tigers and could compete to serve as the team's backup catcher in the majors behind starter Eric Haase.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Mario Feliciano: DFA'd by Brewers
Feliciano was designated for assignment by the Brewers on Wednesday. Feliciano spent most of his time at Triple-A Nashville in 2022 and slashed .274/.326/.386 with six home runs, 38 RBI, 31 runs and two stolen bases over 77 games. He'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster after the Brewers acquired Owen Miller on Wednesday, but Feliciano will likely be a candidate to serve as a non-roster invitee this spring if he goes unclaimed on waivers.... Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Heads back to Triple-A
Feliciano was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday. Feliciano had served as the Brewers' backup catcher since early August after Omar Narvaez strained his quadriceps. Feliciano only got into two games during his time on the roster, going 1-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout. Narvaez returned to the active roster Saturday, so Feliciano will return to the minors.... Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Gets call to majors
The Brewers recalled Feliciano from Triple-A Nashville on Thursday. Heading into Wednesday, Feliciano was No. 4 on the Brewers' organizational depth chart at catcher, but he'll find himself with the big club as the No. 2 option behind the dish ahead of the team's series finale in Pittsburgh. In the wake of Tuesday's trade-deadline moves, the Brewers designated No. 3 catcher Pedro Severino for assignment Wednesday, only to lose top backstop Omar Narvaez (quadriceps) to an injury in their 8-7 loss to Pittsburgh later that night. With Narvaez heading to the 10-day injured list Thursday in a corresponding move, Feliciano will now settle in as Victor Caratini's top backup until Narvaez is healthy again.... See More ... Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Bound for Nashville
The Brewers optioned Feliciano to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday. Feliciano was one of five 40-man roster players that the Brewers demoted to Triple-A in the team's latest round of cuts from big-league camp. The 23-year-old backstop appeared in one game for Milwaukee in 2021, but he's expected to spend the majority of the upcoming campaign at Nashville unless one or two of Omar Narvaez, Pedro Severino or Brett Sullivan are unavailable for an extended period.... Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Overcomes shoulder issue
Feliciano (shoulder) has gone hitless in three at-bats in his lone game for Triple-A Nashville since being activated from the 7-day injured list Saturday. Feliciano was on the shelf since late May due to the shoulder injury, but now that he's healthy again, he should move back into a three-headed timeshare at catcher with Luke Maile and Christian Kelley. Before being shut down, Feliciano went 4-for-35 (.114 average) with a home run in his first 11 games with Nashville.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Starting rehab assignment Monday
Feliciano (shoulder) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Monday with the Brewers' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. On the shelf at Triple-A Nashville since May 21 with a right shoulder impingement, Feliciano has finally been cleared for game action after he was able to throw to the bases without issue during his recent workouts. Feliciano will likely need a few games in the lower levels of the minors to fully ramp up before Nashville feels comfortable activating him from its 7-day injured list.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Out with shoulder impingement
Feliciano has been out of the Triple-A Nashville lineup since May 21 due to a right shoulder impingement, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. The Brewers believe Feliciano is more than half way through his recovery from the injury; he resumed a throwing program Tuesday and is expected to rejoin the Nashville lineup in approximately 10 days. Before getting shut down with the injury, the 22-year-old catcher slashed .114/.195/.200 over 41 plate appearances at Nashville.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Returns to alternate site
Feliciano was optioned to the alternate training site Sunday. The 22-year-old was promoted Saturday and made his big-league debut for Milwaukee, and he came around to score the winning run after earning a walk in his only plate appearance. Feliciano is expected to start at Triple-A Nashville when the minor-league season begins this week.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Joins big-league roster
Feliciano was recalled by the Brewers on Saturday. The 22-year-old has played just three Double-A games and none at the Triple-A level. He began the season far down the Brewers' depth chart, but injuries to to Omar Narvaez (hamstring) and Manny Pina (toe) and the loss of Jacob Nottingham to the Mariners on waivers means the team already needs to turn to him. Feliciano will likely back up Luke Maile during his time with the team.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Joins 40-man roster
Feliciano was added to the Brewers' 40-man roster Friday. Feliciano spent the 2020 season on the Brewers' 60-man roster, but he failed to make his major-league debut. He'll now be protected from the upcoming Rule 5 draft, and he should begin the 2021 season at the Double-A or Triple-A level.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Joins 60-man player pool
Feliciano was added to Milwaukee's 60-man player pool Thursday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. Feliciano is one of a handful of prospects headed to Milwaukee's alternate training site, where players will be able to get field time and coaching while the minors are shut down. The backstop spent most of the 2019 season with High-A Carolina, slashing .273/.324/.477 with 19 home runs in 116 games.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Sent to minors
Feliciano was reassigned to minor league camp Monday. Feliciano is one of the Brewers' better prospects, so the club gave him a chance to see a few at-bats with the major-league team this spring. He fared well in limited action, going 4-for-12 (.333) with two doubles, five RBI and a 1:2 BB:K. It remains to be seen which affiliate he will open the season with, but it will be a pivotal year for Feliciano's prospect status, as last season's Carolina League MVP last could really give his stock a boost with another productive campaign.... Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Moving to Double-A
Feliciano was promoted from High-A Carolina to Double-A Biloxi on Sunday. Feliciano had a .273/.324/.477 slash line with 25 doubles, 19 homers and 81 RBI in 81 games to earn MVP honors in the Carolina League. Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Hits walkoff homer
Feliciano went 2-for-4 and hit a walkoff home run in a game with High-A Carolina on Monday. It's been a breakout year in the power department for Feliciano, whose latest long ball gives him eight on the season -- already double his previous career high. Feliciano has bounced back nicely after posting just a .611 OPS at the High-A level, and at just 20 years old -- 2.6 years younger on average than the rest of the players in the Carolina League, according to Baseball Reference -- his stock is on the rise.... Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Good to go for 2019 season
Feliciano (shoulder) is slated to catch and bat third Saturday in a minor-league game for High-A Carolina. Feliciano's time in the Arizona Fall League was cut short after he required arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder, but his availability for game action this spring suggests he has made a full recovery. The 20-year-old is considered the top catching prospect in the Brewers organization but is unlikely to arrive in the big leagues for at least a couple more years.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Undergoes shoulder surgery
Feliciano underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Thursday after feeling discomfort in his throwing arm during the Arizona Fall League, but he's expected to be fully healthy for spring training, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Feliciano missed the first couple months of the 2018 season with an arm injury, so is it slightly concerning that he had another setback to the same arm. That said, some time to rest and heal the shoulder properly should allow the 20-year-old to come into next season without any lingering problems. Across 42 games with High-A Carolina, he hit .205/.282/.329 with three home runs and 12 RBI.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Mario Feliciano: Moved up to High-A level
Feliciano (arm) was transferred to High-A Carolina on Friday. Feliciano has not appeared in a game in 2018 and did not advance past the Low-A level previously, but the Brewers felt he was ready to take the next step in his development, and Friday's assignment likely means his season debut is imminent....
