Royals' Chance Adams: Outrighted to Triple-A
Adams was outrighted to Triple-A Omaha on Friday.
Adams made six relief appearances during his first season with the Royals in 2020, but he was inefficient once again, allowing nine earned runs on 15 hits and no walks while striking out six over 8.2 innings. He'll be cast off the 40-man roster to make room for several prospects who will be protected from the Rule 5 draft.... See More ... See Less
Royals' Chance Adams: Back in big leagues
Adams was recalled by the Royals on Monday.
Adams made just one appearance in his previous stint on the Royals' roster, allowing three runs on four hits while recording just five outs. He now owns an 8.57 ERA in 34.2 major-league innings, meaning he's unlikely to fill anything but a low-leverage relief role during his time with the club. Ian Kennedy (calf) landed on the injured list in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less

Adams will provide Kansas City with a fresh multi-inning arm out of the bullpen after the Royals needed four relievers to cover the final five innings of Saturday's 7-2 loss to the Twins. The 26-year-old right-hander, who made 13 relief appearances for the Yankees in 2019, has yet to make his Kansas City debut.... See More ... See Less

Royals' Chance Adams: Traded to Royals
Adams was traded to the Royals from the Yankees on Monday in exchange for Cristian Perez, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Adams saw limited major-league action in each of the past two seasons, but he was designated for assignment in order to make room for Gerrit Cole on the 40-man roster. The right-hander was very productive at Double-A and Triple-A in 2017, but he has declined over the past two years, recording a 4.57 ERA with a 1.39 WHIP over 200.2 innings at the Triple-A level in 2018 and 2019. It wouldn't be surprising to see the 25-year-old see some low-leverage bullpen situations in the majors with the Royals sometime in 2020, but he'll have to rebound if he hopes to play a more significant role.... Yankees' Chance Adams: Bumped off 40-man roster
The Yankees designated Adams for assignment Wednesday.
Once one of the organization's most prized pitching prospects, Adams' development plateaued after he churned out a 2.89 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 103 strikeouts in 115.1 innings with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2017. He appeared in 13 games with the big club in 2019 but worked exclusively in relief, giving up 24 earned runs on 39 hits and 11 walks over just 25.1 innings. If Adams clears waivers, he'll likely stay in the organization and open the 2020 campaign back at Triple-A.... See More ... See Less
Yankees' Chance Adams: Recalled by Yankees
Adams was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.
Adams has worked sparingly with the big-league club throughout the season, serving a role as a multiple-inning reliever. He hasn't been particularly effective, allowing multiple earned runs in four of his eight appearances. That's resulted in a 7.48 ERA and 1.85 WHIP, so it's unlikely he sees any type of role in high-leverage situations.... See More ... See Less
