Tovar went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored Saturday against the Cubs. Tovar has recorded at least one hit in nine of his last 10 games, a stretch that began with the benefit of his home park but has continued since the Rockies began a road trip Monday. In those 10 games, he has tallied five multi-hit performances and has also racked up nine RBI and six runs scored. Tovar has had an inconsistent rookie season, but he'll end up with double-digit home runs and stolen bases while also topping 70 RBI and runs scored.... See More ... See Less

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Shines in twin bill
Tovar went 5-for-8 with a double, a triple, three runs, five RBI and a stolen base across both games of Saturday's doubleheader sweep against the Giants. Tovar plated four runs in the matinee, three of which came on a bases-clearing triple. He added a run-scoring single in the nightcap, giving him more RBI (five) in the doubleheader than he had accumulated (four) over his first 13 games of September combined. Tovar's big day lifted his batting average this month from .220 to .276.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Gets breather Tuesday
Tovar is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs. Tovar is mostly enjoying a productive second half, but he has gone 0-for-12 with no walks and two strikeouts over his last three games. Alan Trejo will get a turn at shortstop and bat eighth for the Rockies on Tuesday.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Collects two steals
Tovar went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Diamondbacks. While he got on base at a .301 clip in August, Tovar managed just three stolen bases over 26 games last month. After logging two thefts Tuesday, he could be on his way to a more productive September. The rookie shortstop has held his own in his first full season with a .256/.290/.422 slash line, 15 home runs, 10 steals, 64 RBI, 68 runs scored, 31 doubles and three triples through 130 contests overall.... Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Drives in two
Tovar went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI on Saturday against the Blue Jays. Aided by Coors Field, Tovar has had a nice start to Colorado's current homestand, as he has collected six hits across 23 at-bats while tallying three doubles and four RBI in that stretch. He's also been on a nice power surge overall, racking up five homers and six doubles across his last 33 games. Despite some of his strong numbers of late, Tovar still has plenty of holes in his skill profile, as illustrated by his .309 wOBA and 78 wRC+ across 509 plate appearances on the season.... Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Belts 15th home run
Tovar went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-4 loss against the Orioles. Tovar's home run came with one out in the fifth and gave the Rockies a 4-2 lead. The homer was his 15th of the season to go along with 59 RBI, 64 runs scored and seven steals. Tovar does strike out over six times more than he walks (129:21) which has led to an on-base percentage that's currently hovering at .298. However, his .261 average is solid and he maintains a consistent role in the top two of the Rockies' batting order.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Receives rare day off
Tovar is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Tampa Bay, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports. It's the first time Tovar hasn't been in the lineup since he was on the paternity leave list back in late June. Alan Trejo will get a start at shortstop.... See More ... See Less -

Tovar swatted a solo shot in the sixth inning to bring Colorado to within two runs. He was then part of the Rockies' big four-run eighth, knocking a single and eventually coming around to score. Tovar finished with his fourth three-hit performance of the campaign and his third multi-hit effort over his past six contests.... See More ... See Less -

He's gone 8-for-23 (.348) with two homers and two steals during his six-game hitting streak. The rookie shortstop has a .258/.292/.425 slash line with 12 long balls, seven thefts, 52 RBI and 54 runs scored over 110 contests this season. He got a turn at leadoff Saturday with Jurickson Profar resting, but Tovar has most often hit second in recent weeks.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Only source of offense Monday
Tovar went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 12-1 loss to the Brewers. Tovar got the Rockies going with a first-inning blast, but Freddy Peralta and two relievers would combine to retire the next 26 Colorado batters in order. Tovar snapped a 10-game homer drought with his blast, which was his 11th of the season. The rookie shortstop has added a solid .253/.286/.416 slash line with five stolen bases, 50 RBI, 51 runs scored, 24 doubles and three triples over 105 contests in a near-everyday role.... Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Struggling in July
Tovar went 3-for-5 with a stolen base Monday against the Nationals. Tovar managed only his second multi-knock game across 16 games in July, during which he's hit .226 with a 31.3 percent strikeout rate. As could be expected for a 21-year-old rookie, he has been inconsistent this season, as he endured a poor April before turning things around in the early summer. Tovar remains locked into everyday playing time, though he has been hitting in the bottom-third of the lineup when the rest of the starting nine is healthy.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Pops ninth homer
Tovar went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer Friday against the Giants. Tovar hit atop the order for the second time this season and for the first time against a right-handed pitcher. He delivered the game-deciding home run, his ninth long ball of the campaign. Tovar has progressively improved throughout his rookie year and has hit .308 with 20 RBI and 14 runs scored across his last 23 games.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Jumps to leadoff spot
Tovar is batting leadoff for the Rockies on Friday against the Giants. It's just the second career appearance at leadoff for the 21-year-old shortstop, though he has been batting second a lot on his recent hot streak. Tovar boasts a .309/.330/.509 slash line with five homers and two steals in 28 games (115 plate appearances) since the beginning of June.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Goes deep in win
Tovar went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 8-5 win over the Tigers. Tovar has homered three times and added 12 RBI during his 13-game hitting streak. Over that span, he's gone 19-for-53 (.358) while also notching one stolen base. The rookie shortstop is holding down a starting role, and his recent surge has him up to a .269/.303/.441 slash line with eight homers, 39 RBI, 40 runs scored and four stolen bases through 77 contests overall.... Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Sleeper hitters for Week 14 (June 26-July 2)
Tovar is about the one Rockies hitter with both the upside and availability to recommend in a full week of home games. His overall stats aren't exciting, but the 21-year-old has gotten in the swing of things lately, batting .307 (40 for 27) with five homers and two steals in his past 34 games.... See More ... Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Knocks in two in win
Tovar went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Angels. Tovar knocked in the Rockies' last two runs of the game, giving them just enough for the win. The shortstop has hit safely in his last nine games, going 13-for-37 (.351) over that span. For the season, he's up to a .262/.296/.430 slash line with seven homers, 33 RBI, 34 runs scored and three stolen bases through 73 contests. Tovar hit leadoff for the first time this season Sunday, but that was likely just because Jurickson Profar had the day off. Over the last couple of weeks, Tovar has often hit second in the order.... Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Reinstated Thursday

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Goes on paternity leave
The Rockies placed Tovar (personal) on the paternity list Monday. Tovar was removed late in Sunday's 14-6 loss to Atlanta after receiving word that his wife went into labor, so his move to the paternity list comes as little surprise. Expect the rookie shortstop to miss the entirety of the Rockies' three-game series in Cincinnati to open the week before likely rejoining the team Friday for the start of a homestand. Colorado called up infielder Connor Kaiser from Triple-A Albuquerque to replace Tovar on the 26-man active roster.... See More ... See Less -
