  • Dodgers' Justin Bruihl: Moves to Triple-A

The Dodges optioned Bruihl (back) to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Bruihl pitched in 24 games for Los Angeles last season, recording a 3.80 ERA and 1.18 WHIP through 23.2 innings. The 25-year-old southpaw appeared to enter spring training in good position to break camp with the big club, but a bout with back spasms might have derailed his chances of securing a spot in the Dodgers' Opening Day bullpen. Bruihl at least appears to be healthy again, as he returned from a two-week absence from the Dodgers' pitching schedule to retire one of the three batters he faced in Tuesday's 12-1 loss to the Giants in Cactus League play.

  • Dodgers' Justin Bruihl: Secures one-out save

Bruihl retired the only batter he faced to earn the save in Sunday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Giants. Andre Jackson was initially given the save chance with a two-run lead, but he allowed three of the five batters he faced to reach base. He left the game with the bases loaded, and Bruihl was able to get LaMonte Wade on a groundout to end the contest. The save was Bruihl's first in his major-league career, and his first at any level since 2019 when he logged two saves in Single-A. The Dodgers used seven relievers in this contest, with regular closer Craig Kimbrel pitching the ninth inning, so Bruihl shouldn't be expected to see many additional closing chances. He's given up two runs across four innings in four appearances since he was called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City earlier this month.

Bruihl had a 4.34 ERA, 1.82 WHIP and a 13:12 K:BB in 18.2 innings since getting optioned, so he should work in low-leverage spots for the Dodgers.

  • Dodgers' Justin Bruihl: Healthy for spring training

Bruihl (arm) is listed among the Dodgers relievers scheduled to pitch in Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Guardians, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. Bruihl will be making his second appearance of the spring after he struck out two over a scoreless frame Sunday against the Cubs. The 24-year-old southpaw looks like he's made a full recovery from the left arm injury that kept him sidelined late in the Dodgers' National League Championship Series loss to Atlanta last October.

  • Dodgers' Justin Bruihl: Dealing with soreness

Bruihl may not be ready to go for Game 6 of the NLCS against Atlanta on Saturday after experiencing soreness in his arm while warming up Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Bruihl tossed 18.2 innings with a 2.89 ERA in the regular season and has thrown two scoreless innings thus far in the playoffs. He's yet to be removed from the team's playoff roster, but it's a real possibility he will be if he's unable to contribute in a must-win game.

Bruihl picked up a hold against Arizona on Sunday, hurling a scoreless inning during which he allowed one hit and one walk. Bruihl came on in relief of starter Julio Urias in the sixth inning and allowed a pair of baserunners, but he was able to retire Kole Calhoun with runners on the corners to keep the Diamondbacks off the scoreboard. The hold was the third of the campaign for the rookie and his first since Aug. 21. Bruihl has struggled of late -- over his past four outings, he has given up four runs and six hits across 2.2 frames -- but he has posted a respectable 3.24 ERA and 1.20 WHIP across 16.2 innings overall.
