Mariners' Jonatan Clase: Slow start at Double-A
Clase is hitting .217 with one home run, 10 steals and a 31.5 percent strikeout rate in 12 games since getting promoted to Double-A Arkansas.
The speedy outfielder, who turns 21 next week, put up a .333/.453/.701 slash line while playing half his games in the hitter friendly park at High-A Everett before earning the promotion. Clase is already on the 40-man roster and should remain at Double-A for the rest of the season.

Mariners' Jonatan Clase: Optioned to High-A
Clase was optioned to High-A Everett by the Mariners on Friday.
Clase is a highly regarded outfield prospect but doesn't have any experience above Single-A. The 20-year-old will look to take the next step in his development in 2023 after posting an .836 OPS with 55 steals in 65 attempts for Single-A Modesto in 2022.

Mariners' Jonatan Clase: Protected from Rule 5 draft
Clase was added to Seattle's 40-man roster Tuesday.
The Mariners needed to add Clase to the 40-man roster or risk losing him in the Rule 5 draft. However, he is just 20 years old and has not played above Single-A, so there is a lot of development remaining. Clase, one of the fastest position players in the minors, hit .267/.373/.463 with 13 home runs and 55 steals in 499 plate appearances this past season.
