Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Still expected to make team
Suwinski is still expected to make the Pirates' Opening Day roster despite some struggles this spring, manager Derek Shelton implied to Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Monday.
Suwinski has had some defensive issues during Grapefruit League play and has struck out 16 times in 35 plate appearances. However, Shelton blamed the defensive problems in part on Suwinski being bothered by the sun and also indicated the outfielder's solid rookie-season showing would be weighed heavily in roster decisions. The plan has been for Suwinski to play center field and Bryan Reynolds shift over to left, although it's possible that changes given Suwinski's rough defensive performance this spring.

Suwinski went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against Atlanta.

While he's still maintained a .391 on-base percentage, Suwisnki has struck out 10 times across 22 plate appearances this spring. Despite his issues making consistent contact, he should remain the frontrunner to start in either center or left field for the Pirates on Opening Day.

Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Likely center fielder
Suwinski is expected to start in center field for the Pirates in 2023, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.
Bryan Reynolds was Pittsburgh's starting center fielder in 2022, but he's expected to shift to left field in the move. Meanwhile, Suwinski has started four games during spring training, three of which have come in center field. The move is significant, as it was previously anticipated that Suwinksi would be in a competition with the likes of Cal Mitchell, Canaan Smith-Njigba and Connor Joe for a starting corner outfield job.

Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Hits 14th home run
Suwinski went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in a 5-2 victory over the Yankees on Tuesday.
Suwinski continues to break out as a power hitter, and he now has 14 home runs on the season in only 62 games played. The rookie left-handed bat posted a .915 OPS in June, and it appears as if his power surge is carrying over to July. Despite being on pace for a 30- home run season, Suwinski's 31.3 percent strikeout rate is concerning and it is worth monitoring how pitchers adapt to him over the second half of the season.
