Tigers' Trey Wingenter: Moved to 60-day IL
The Tigers transferred Wingenter (biceps) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Wingenter was moved over to the 60-day IL in order to open a spot on the 40-man roster for outfielder Jake Marisnick, who had his contract selected from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday. Wingenter was placed on the 15-day IL in late April and will now have to wait until mid-to-late June before he's eligible to return. The right-hander resumed throwing May 12 and should now have ample time to be ready to go by then.

Wingenter (biceps) resumed throwing Friday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Wingenter has been out since April 22 with shoulder tendinitis, but he recently underwent a cortisone injection which helped him get over the hump. Tigers' Trey Wingenter: Added to MLB roster
Wingenter had his contract selected by the Tigers on Thursday.
Wingenter signed with Detroit as a non-roster invitee in January and earned a spot on the Opening Day roster after he recorded 11 strikeouts in seven scoreless frames during spring training. The right-hander hasn't pitched in the majors since 2019 with the Padres, when he had one save and 16 holds with a 5.65 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 72:28 K:BB over 51 innings.

Tigers' Trey Wingenter: Makes Opening Day roster
Wingenter will be on the Tigers' 26-man roster to begin the season, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Wingenter will see his first big-league action since 2019, when he posted a 5.65 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 51 innings for the Padres. The Tigers don't boast much bullpen talent, so Wingenter could work his way into some high-leverage opportunities. Since Wingenter had been attending camp as a non-roster invitee, the Tigers will have to officially add him to the 40-man roster prior to Thursday's season opener versus the Rays.

Tigers' Trey Wingenter: Could make roster
With Will Vest optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Wingenter's chances of making Detroit's Opening Day roster have likely improved.
Vest appeared in 59 games for the Tigers last season, but he's out of the mix for now. Wingenter joined the team on a minor-league deal back in January and now stands a decent chance of being a member of the Opening Day bullpen. The righty hasn't appeared in the majors since 2019 and will likely be a low-leverage option if he sticks with Detroit.

Tigers' Trey Wingenter: Inks deal with Detroit
Wingenter (back) signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Sunday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Wingenter's deal includes an invitation to big-league spring training, where the 28-year-old should get the chance to compete for a spot in Detroit's Opening Day bullpen. After undergoing back surgery in September 2021, Wingenter was non-tendered by the Padres and caught on with the Reds on a minor-league deal last offseason. Wingenter never ended up seeing action for any of the Reds' minor-league affiliates in 2022, but he was presumably able to pass his physical with Detroit and should report to spring training at full health. Over 73 career relief appearances in the majors, Wingenter owns a 5.14 ERA and 20.1 K-BB%.

The Reds reassigned Wingenter (elbow) to minor-league camp Sunday.
Wingenter's chances of breaking camp with the Reds were dashed after he was shut down with elbow soreness a few days ago. Fortunately, Wingenter's MRI checked out fine, and he's expected to continue his rehab program at the Reds' extended spring training facility before eventually settling in the bullpen at Triple-A Louisville, according to Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Wingenter was shut down from throwing with right elbow soreness Thursday and won't be ready for the start of the season, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Wingenter appears to have avoided a serious injury since an MRI came back clean, but he'll still be unavailable for Opening Day. The 27-year-old is in camp as a non-roster invitee, and it's unclear whether he'll get a chance with the big-league club once healthy.

Wingenter (back) is listed among the Reds' available relievers for Tuesday's Cactus League game against the Dodgers, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

The 27-year-old righty reliever, who is attending camp as a non-roster invitee, appears to be fully healthy after he underwent back surgery last September.
