Hernandez is slashing .308/.500/.385 through 18 Triple-A plate appearances and could return to Los Angeles if their infield depth is ever tested again during the season.

Hernandez logged a brief period of time in the majors with Arizona last season, but he spent most of the year at Triple-A Albuquerque and posted a .241/.349/.324 slash line across 298 plate appearances. Hernandez has had a very strong spring, going 8-for-30 at the plate with two RBI and three stolen bases, but he will need to show more at the highest level of the minors before he can contribute to the big-league club.
The Dodgers acquired Hernandez from the Athletics for cash considerations Thursday.
Hernandez was ineffective in 28 plate appearances this past season, managing two singles and a .154 OBP. He struggled in 2021 with the Rangers, too, so he figures to provide organizational depth for the Dodgers.
Hernandez was designated for assignment by the Athletics, the team announced Tuesday.
Hernandez was claimed off waivers by the A's last month. The 24-year-old sports just a .521 OPS over 55 major league games.

Hernandez last played for Reno since Aug. 17 before being placed on the affiliate's 7-day injured list less than a week later, presumably due to the calf strain.
