Navarreto signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Thursday which includes an invite to major-league spring training, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Navarreto spent the 2022 campaign at Milwaukee's Triple-A level, and he'll return to the organization for 2023. He had a .262/.317/.362 slash line with four home runs in 43 games last season and should serve as organizational catching depth.... See More ... See Less

Marlins' Brian Navarreto: Back with Miami organization
Navarreto re-signed Sunday with the Marlins on a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to spring training. When Miami's depth at catcher was thinned during the 2020 season, Navarreto was called up from the alternate training site in late August to make his MLB debut. He ended up appearing in two games before being cast off the 40-man roster. Though Navarreto will get the opportunity to compete for the No. 2 catcher job with the big club in spring training, he's more likely to open the 2021 campaign at Triple-A Jacksonville or Double-A Pensacola.... Marlins' Brian Navarreto: Outrighted to alternate site
Navarreto was outrighted to Miami's alternate training site Thursday. He was designated for assignment last week but will remain in the organization to provide catching depth moving forward.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Brian Navarreto: DFA'd by Miami
Navarreto was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Saturday. Navarreto appeared in just two games during his time on the active roster and went 2-for-5 with one strikeout. However, he'll be cast off the 40-man roster after Chad Wallach (undisclosed) was activated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Brian Navarreto: Moves up from taxi squad
The Marlins selected Navarreto's contract from the taxi squad ahead of Sunday's game against the Nationals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. He'll assume the 40-man roster spot of Ryan Lavarnway, who was designated for assignment, and the 28-man active roster spot of Francisco Cervelli (concussion), who was placed on the 7-day injured list. Jorge Alfaro is locked in as the Marlins' No. 1 catcher, so Navarreto will likely be in line for around a start or two per week behind the dish until one of Cervelli or Chad Wallach (undisclosed) are cleared to return from the IL.... Marlins' Brian Navarreto: Included on summer camp roster
Navarreto is part of the Marlins' 60-man player pool, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports. Navarreto is at best fourth on the depth chart behind Jorge Alfaro, Francisco Cervelli and Chad Wallach. The 25-year-old backstop has never made it past Double-A.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Brian Navarreto: Gets minors deal with Marlins
Navarreto signed a minor-league contract with the Marlins on Wednesday. The 24-year-old has yet to reach the Triple-A level, so his odds of winning a big-league roster spot in camp would appear to be quite slim. He owns a career .221/.269/.321 slash line in 176 Double-A games.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Brian Navarreto: Dealt to Yankees
The Twins traded Navarreto to the Yankees on Thursday. Minnesota's return in the deal isn't known, but the Yankees probably aren't sending along anything more than a low-level prospect or cash considerations. Navarreto will likely report to Double-A Trenton with his new organization after slashing .177/.229/.331 across 146 plate appearances for the Twins' Southern League affiliate this season....
