Orioles' Felix Bautista: Notches 12th save
Bautista walked one and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his 12th save of the season in a 9-6 win over the Yankees. The big right-hander fanned multiple batters for the seventh straight appearance, although he also issued a free pass for the fourth time in his last five games. Bautista's 1.44 ERA on the season is impressive, and his 47.2 percent strikeout rate is second in the majors to Cincinnati's Alexis Diaz, but his 16.0 percent walk rate has led to four blown saves and a 1.24 WHIP.... Orioles' Felix Bautista: Surrenders game-tying homer
Bautista blew the save in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Yankees. He allowed a solo home run while striking out three over one inning. Bautista got off to a strong start to the ninth, striking out Gleyber Torres and going up 0-2 on Aaron Judge, but he was bested by the reigning AL MVP, who swatted a solo home run to tie the game up at 5-5. The long ball was the first one Bautista has allowed since April 1 and broke a streak of six consecutive scoreless appearances (7.1 innings). Despite the blown save, Bautista remains a strong closing option, considering he owns a 1.50 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 18.0 K/9 through 24 innings.... See More ... See Less -

Bautista (3-1) allowed a hit and a walk while striking out five over two scoreless innings to earn the extra-inning win Saturday over the Blue Jays. Bautista entered with a runner on first and two outs in the eighth inning, walking Brandon Lowe before striking out Taylor Walls to end the frame. The 27-year-old Bautista would issue two more free passes to lead off the ninth but coaxed a double play off the bat of Yandy Diaz to get out of trouble. Bautista improves to 8-for-11 in save opportunities with a 1.59 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 30:13 K:BB over 17 innings. While his 14.7 percent walk rate has room for improvement, Bautista has certainly made up for it with a 42.6 percent strikeout rate.... See More ... See Less -

Bautista allowed an unearned run on one walk and struck out one in one inning, taking a blown save in Sunday's 3-2 extra-innings loss to Atlanta. Bautista couldn't protect a one-run lead in the 10th inning, giving up a run on a wild pitch. He's allowed a run in consecutive appearances for the first time since his first two outings of the year. Orioles' Felix Bautista: Nails down seventh save
Bautista recorded his seventh save of the season in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning. After seeing his control waver Thursday when he walked three batters and needed 31 pitches to secure his sixth save, Bautista's seventh was a relative breeze as he needed only 10 pitches to carve up Detroit's 6-7-8 hitters. The right-hander is showing he was no one-year wonder after breaking out in 2022, and through 13.2 innings this season he sports a 1.32 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and dominant 43.1 percent strikeout rate.... He narrowly avoided his third blown save on the season but has been strong outside of the pair of blown saves, having only allowed two earned runs in 12.2 innings for the season. Though Bautista has had an up-and-down year, nobody seems to be pressing him for the Orioles' closing job.... See More ... See Less -

Orioles' Felix Bautista: Nails down third save
Bautista walked one and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his third save of the season in a 7-6 win over the Yankees. The big right-hander made things interesting, as Aaron Judge stole second and went to third on a wild pitch after his two-out walk, but Bautista got Anthony Rizzo to fly out to end the game. The O's closer got a late start to his spring to make sure his shoulder and knee were healthy, but it seems the plan worked as Bautista has a 7:2 K:BB through his first 3.2 innings in 2023.... Orioles' Felix Bautista: Blows save after error
Bautista (0-1) allowed two unearned runs on one hit over two-thirds of an inning and picked up a loss and a blown save Saturday against the Red Sox. Bautista should have picked up his second save of the season, but Ryan McKenna dropped a flyball with two outs. Adam Duvall took Bautista deep to give Boston the victory. It's disappointing for fantasy managers who roster the hard-throwing 27-year-old to pick up the loss and no save, but the runs being unearned won't hurt his ERA.... See More ... See Less -
