  • Tigers' Ashton Goudeau: Inks MiLB deal with Detroit

Goudeau signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Tuesday and received an invitation to major-league spring training. Goudeau put up a 7.08 ERA and a 1.72 WHIP through 20.1 major-league innings with Colorado last season, and his minor-league stats weren't outstanding either with a 9.51 ERA and 1.93 WHIP over 64.1 frames. The 30-year-old reliever will spend spring with the big-league club, but will almost certainly serve as organizational depth in Triple-A.

  • Rockies' Ashton Goudeau: Back with big club

Goudeau was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports. Goudeau has served as the 27th man a couple times this season, and this latest stint with the big-league team could be another relatively short one. Ryan Feltner is said to be "most likely" to start Wednesday in place of Antonio Senzatela (shoulder), and the team would need to open up a roster spot for Feltner. The 29-year-old Goudeau has posted a 7.08 ERA and 1.72 WHIP in 20.1 innings so far in 2022.

  • Rockies' Ashton Goudeau: Tallies save in extras

Goudeau allowed one walk and struck out one in a scoreless 10th inning to earn the save Monday against the Rangers. Goudeau entered the game with a two-run lead, though it was still a difficult outing given the presence of a runner at second base. He was unbothered, however, as he struck out the first batter he faced. After allowing a one-out walk, Goudeau induced a double play to end the game to pick up the first save of his career. Though he did well in the role, Goudeau isn't likely to see more save chances in the immediate future. He was pushed into the role Monday after both Daniel Bard and Alex Colome had been used earlier in the matchup.

Goudeau will start Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports. Goudeau will make his first MLB start Sunday while the Rockies employ a bullpen game in the final contest of 2021. The 29-year-old has thrown 40-plus pitches in each of his last two appearances out of the bullpen, so he should be able to provide decent length, though he's unlikely to have the workload of a traditional starter.

Goudeau (1-0) allowed a run one one hit and struck out two over two innings to earn the win Sunday versus Philadelphia. The 29-year-old gave up a single and a stolen base to J.T. Realmuto, who then scored on a wild pitch. That was all Philadelphia could muster against Goudeau, who earned his first big-league win Sunday. He has a 4.18 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 15:13 K:BB across 23.2 innings between Colorado and Cincinnati this year. He'll likely continued to see multi-inning relief assignments.
