With an .855 OPS over 167 plate appearances on the season, the switch-hitting Perdomo has worked his way out of a strict platoon with Nick Ahmed, but the Diamondbacks will still hold Perdomo out of the lineup against left-handed pitching occasionally. Perdomo, who went 1-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 10-5 win, will give way to Ahmed at shortstop Wednesday while southpaw Patrick Corbin takes the hill for Washington.
Perdomo batted leadoff and went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a caught stealing in Friday's 3-2 win over Atlanta.
Perdomo snapped an 0-for-13 skid when led off the home half of the first inning with an infield single and came around to score. This was the second time Perdomo slotted in at leadoff, but it doesn't look like it's a new home in the lineup for him, according to Michelle Gardner of the Arizona Republic. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said it was more about giving Pavin Smith and Josh Rojas a night off while keeping a left-handed bat atop the order.

Though Perdomo will give way to Ahmed with lefty Ranger Suarez on the bump for Philadelphia on Wednesday, Ahmed's chances to play regularly against southpaws could soon come to an end while he's maintaining a .204/.220/.245 slash line (22 wRC+) over 50 plate appearances in those matchups for the season. Perdomo, meanwhile, owns a 128 wRC+ and 158 wrC+ versus lefties and righties, respectively, and brings more speed to the table than Ahmed.
