  • Yankees' Jake Cousins: Sent to Triple-A

Cousins was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday. The Yankees selected Cousins' contract from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last week, and he allowed one earned run with a 4:3 K:BB over three innings during his brief time in the majors. The 29-year-old could rejoin the big club later in the season as bullpen depth is needed.

  • Yankees' Jake Cousins: Added to roster

The Yankees selected Cousins' contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday. Cousins was acquired via trade from the White Sox on Sunday and will immediately be added to the major-league roster. The 29-year-old struggled in 2023 during his brief time in the majors and dealt with shoulder issues, but he posted a 2.70 ERA and 65:27 K:BB over 43.1 relief innings with the Brewers from 2021-22. Cousins will be used in low-leverage spots initially.

  • Yankees' Jake Cousins: Expected to be added to roster

The Yankees are expected to call up Cousins prior to Monday's game in Arizona, Erik Boland of Newsday reports. Cousins was acquired from the White Sox on Sunday and it appears he'll head straight to the big leagues. The Yankees will need to make 26-man and 40-man roster moves in order to add him, and it's not clear at this point what those will be.

  • Yankees' Jake Cousins: Headed to New York

Cousins was traded from the White Sox to the Yankees on Sunday in return for cash considerations. Cousins signed a minor-league contract with Chicago in December, but he'll now head to the Big Apple. The right-hander appeared in nine games with the Brewers in 2023, producing a 4.82 ERA with seven strikeouts and 10 walks allowed over 9.1 innings. He'll likely begin his tenure with the Yankees at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

  • White Sox's Jake Cousins: Inks MiLB deal with White Sox

Cousins signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Tuesday. Cousins has battled injuries and ineffectiveness over the last couple of seasons, but the 29-year-old reliever carries a 3.08 ERA with 72 strikeouts in 52.2 career major-league innings. He's a worthwhile reclamation project for Chicago.

  • Astros' Jake Cousins: Designated for assignment

Cousins was designated for assignment by the Astros on Tuesday. Houston claimed Cousins off waivers from the Brewers in late July, but he's now been cut loose from the 40-man roster after allowing eight earned runs in eight innings of relief with Triple-A Sugar Land. Michael Brantley (shoulder) has been activated from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Astros' Jake Cousins: Optioned after acquisition

The Astros activated Cousins (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Sugar Land after acquiring him off waivers from the Brewers on Monday. Cousins struggled over his 12 appearances with Milwaukee prior to landing on the shelf in early June with a right shoulder injury and wasn't especially sharp during his five rehab appearances in the minors, so he'll attempt to work out the kinks in Sugar Land before getting a look in the Houston bullpen. The 29-year-old right-hander has shown the ability to make bats miss at the big-league level, but any success he might have moving forward will hinge on keeping his walk rate in check.

  • Astros' Jake Cousins: Scooped up by Houston

The Astros claimed Cousins (shoulder) off waivers from the Brewers on Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Cousins owns a 3.08 ERA and a 31.4 percent strikeout rate over 52.2 innings in parts of three seasons in the big leagues, but he's struggled with reining in free passes throughout his career (16.2 BB%) and hasn't been able to stay healthy in either of the past two seasons. He last pitched for Milwaukee on June 3 before landing on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, but he's already made five rehab appearances in the minors and should be on the cusp of a return. The 29-year-old has two minor-league options remaining, so Houston could elect to send him to Triple-A Sugar Land once he's reinstated from the IL rather than getting an immediate look at him with the big club.

  • Brewers' Jake Cousins: Rehab moved to Triple-A

Cousins (shoulder) began a rehab assignment in Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Cousins had been rehabbing at the Brewers' complex in Arizona over the All-Star break. He appeared in one game and allowed one unearned run while walking two batters and striking out three. He'll now face higher-level competition and should return to the Brewers' bullpen before the end of the month.

  • Brewers' Jake Cousins: Moved to 15-day IL

Milwaukee placed Cousins on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to June 4, with right shoulder inflammation. Cousins was sent out to Triple-A Nashville this past Sunday, but the injury happened before that move and so the option has been rescinded. There's no timetable yet for when he might be able to return to live competition.

  • Brewers' Jake Cousins: Heads to Triple-A

The Brewers optioned Cousins to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday. Cousins will cede his spot in the Milwaukee bullpen to lefty Bennett Sousa, who was recalled from Nashville in a corresponding move. The right-hander was sent back to the minors after he failed to record an out while allowing two earned runs on two hits and a walk in his relief appearance in Saturday's 10-8 win over the Reds.

  • Brewers' Jake Cousins: Returns to majors

Cousins was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday. The Brewers' bullpen was needed for 6.2 innings behind Freddy Peralta in Friday's 15-1 loss to the Giants. Cousins will return for his third stint with the big-league team this season, providing a fresh arm heading into the final two games against San Francisco. Cousins has made seven appearances for Milwaukee so far this season, pitching to a 3.24 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 7:8 K:BB over 8.1 innings.

  • Brewers' Jake Cousins: Optioned to Nashville

The Brewers optioned Cousins to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday. As the signing of Julio Teheran became official Thursday, Cousins will serve as the Brewers' roster casualty. The 28-year-old reliever has done a good job at limiting runs but struggles to keep runners off base -- especially via walks. He will likely continue to bounce back and forth between Milwaukee and Nashville as the Brewers' pitching depth is tested throughout the season.

  • Brewers' Jake Cousins: Optioned to Triple-A

Cousins was optioned to Triple-A Nashville by the Brewers on Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Cousins had surrendered seven earned runs on nine hits and four walks through six innings of work this spring in the Cactus League. He should get another look in the Milwaukee bullpen at some point in the early part of the 2023 season.

  • Brewers' Jake Cousins: Back in MLB

The Brewers recalled Cousins from Triple-A Nashville on Monday. Cousins posted a 2.84 ERA and 17:6 K:BB in 11 appearances for Triple-A Nashville after being sent down Aug. 24. Having also pitched to a 4.50 ERA in eight big-league games this season, the righty should see some action out of the bullpen and, maybe in a pinch, some high-leverage work.

  • Brewers' Jake Cousins: Reinstated, sent down Wednesday

Cousins (elbow) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday. Cousins was sidelined since the end of April, but he began a rehab assignment in late July and recorded a 2.70 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 10 innings over 10 minor-league appearances. The 28-year-old will remain in the minors now that he's back to full health.

  • Brewers' Jake Cousins: Ready for rehab assignment

Cousins (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. An elbow injury has kept Cousins out of action since the final day in April, but he has seemingly reached the final stage of his recovery. He will pitch Tuesday in the Arizona Complex League, and if all goes well will then advance to Triple-A Nashville.

  • Brewers' Jake Cousins: Shifts to 60-day IL

Cousins (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Wednesday. Cousins has been on the shelf nearly a month since being diagnosed with a UCL injury in his right elbow, and the shift to the 60-day IL won't affect his return timeline. The 27-year-old has opted against Tommy John surgery and received a PRP injection a couple weeks ago, and he's in Arizona going through his rest and rehab work before progressing to a throwing program.

  • Brewers' Jake Cousins: Receives PRP injection

Cousins (elbow) received a PRP injection Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Cousins is dealing with a UCL injury in his right elbow, but he's opting against surgery for now. His recovery process was slowed after he recently tested positive for COVID-19, but he's since tested negative. Following Tuesday's injection, the 27-year-old will head to Arizona for 4-to-6 weeks of rest and rehab prior to beginning a throwing program.
