  • Marlins' Brian Miller: Moves to minors camp

The Marlins reassigned Miller to minor-league camp Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

The 27-year-old outfielder received a brief taste of the big leagues in 2021, but he spent the entire 2022 campaign at Triple-A Jacksonville and looks set for a return trip to the affiliate to begin the 2023 season. Miller's assignment to minor-league camp comes after he slashed .235/.381/.294 with one stolen base across 16 Grapefruit League games.

  • Marlins' Brian Miller: Designated for assignment

Miller was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Sunday.

Miller made his major-league debut in 2021 but spent most of the season at Triple-A Jacksonville. Across 113 minor-league games, he hit .267 with two homers, 53 runs, 34 RBI and 36 stolen bases. He'll now lose his spot on the 40-man roster after the Marlins acquired right-hander Louis Head from the Rays on Sunday.

Miller isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Philadelphia, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

  • Marlins' Brian Miller: Rejoins big-league club

Miller was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.

Miller had a two-game stint with the Marlins earlier this season, and he'll rejoin the major-league club for the final weekend of the season. The 26-year-old should be in the mix to start since Jesus Sanchez (hamstring) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. Miller had a strong finish to the Triple-A campaign with .326/.384/.382 slash line and seven stolen bases in September.

  • Marlins' Brian Miller: Called up for MLB debut

Miller will make his MLB debut Friday against the Yankees, batting eighth and playing left field, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Miller earns a spot on the big-league roster despite his mediocre .253/.313/.329 line in 68 games for Triple-A Jacksonville this season. He does have 22 steals over that stretch, which could give him some fantasy value if he winds up starting regularly.

  • Marlins' Brian Miller: Earns invite to big-league camp

Miller was invited to the Marlins' major-league camp Tuesday, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Miller isn't expected to break camp with the Marlins, as the 23-year-old has yet to appear above Double-A. Across stops at both High-A Jupiter and Double-A Jacksonville in 2018, Miller hit a combined .295/.338/.355 with 40 stolen bases in 128 games.

  • Marlins' Brian Miller: Promoted to Double-A

Miller was called up to Double-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.

The 36th-overall pick in the 2017 draft, Miller has shown everything except power in his first two partial seasons in the minors. In 57 games for Low-A Greensboro last season, the outfielder hit .322/.384/.416 with 21 steals. He posted very similar numbers in 62 games for High-A Jupiter this season, hitting .324/.358/.398 with 19 stolen bases. He'll look to continue that success at the Double-A level.

  • Marlins' Brian Miller: Bangs out six hits in Tuesday's doubleheader

Miller went 6-for-8 with two runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases across both games of High-A Jupiter's doubleheader against Palm Beach on Tuesday.

All six hits were singles, but power has been the only thing lacking in Miller's profile to begin 2018. The 22-year-old now sports a .360/.392/.400 slash line through 17 games for Jupiter with a 4:6 BB:K and seven steals in eight attempts. Given his age, Miller could get a promotion to Double-A over the summer if he keeps raking, and it remains to be seen whether his skill set will translate to the upper levels of the minor leagues -- much less the majors. Still, his prospect status is trending up, and he could yet have a future as a leadoff man and defensively sound center fielder in the majors.

  • Marlins' Brian Miller: Quick start to 2018 season

Miller went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI for High-A Jupiter in Sunday's win over Palm Beach.

The 22-year-old has hit safely in all four games for Jupiter to begin the season, compiling a .412/.444/.471 slash line. Miller has yet to steal a base after swiping 21 in 57 games at Low-A Greensboro in 2017, but the 36th overall pick in last year's draft still projects as a classic leadoff hitter in the big leagues. Given his age, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Marlins challenge Miller with an assignment to Double-A over the summer if he continues banging out hits in the Florida State League.
