The Brewers transferred Mitchell (finger) to the 60-day injured list Sunday.
GM Matt Arnold recently said Mitchell is expected to return around the start of June, so the move to the 60-day IL won't affect his return timeline from a fractured finger. Sal Frelick and Blake Perkins should continue to split playing time in center field for Milwaukee in the meantime.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Targeting June 1 return
Brewers general manager Matt Arnold said Wednesday that Mitchell (finger) should return around June 1, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Previous estimates had Mitchell missing 4-to-6 weeks after he fractured his left index finger back in late March, but evidently it's going to take a bit longer than that. Sal Frelick and Blake Perkins have been handling center field in Mitchell's absence and will continue to do so for quite a bit longer.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Fracture healing as expected
Mitchell underwent an X-ray on Wednesday which showed that his fractured left index finger hasn't shifted and is healing as expected, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Mitchell's timeline would have been extended had the finger been displaced, but thankfully for him and the Brewers, that's hasn't been the case. He remains on a recovery timetable of around 4-to-6 weeks, meaning he could return around the end of April or early May if all continues to go well.

The Brewers placed Mitchell (finger) on the 10-day injured list Thursday.
Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy said Wednesday that Mitchell will likely face a 6-to-8-week absence to begin the season due to the fractured left index finger he suffered in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Diamondbacks. While Mitchell is on the shelf, the Brewers will likely turn to Sal Frelick and Blake Perkins to form a platoon in center field.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said in an interview Wednesday with 97.3 The Game Milwaukee that Mitchell is expected to be sidelined 6-to-8 weeks with a fractured finger on his left hand.
Murphy revealed Monday that Mitchell suffered a fracture, and the skipper has now offered specifics on a timetable which will have the outfielder out well into May. Mitchell had been set to start in right field against right-handers, but now those duties will fall to Jackson Chourio, with Sal Frelick covering center field. On a positive note, Murphy said that Mitchell won't need surgery at this time.

Mitchell will begin the season on the injured list after X-rays revealed a fracture in his left hand, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
The outfielder suffered the injury when his hand was jammed on a swing Sunday. Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Mitchell will visit with a hand specialist before more information is known about a potential timetable. Mitchell had been set for regular right field duty, but the Brewers might now look at Sal Frelick as a full-time outfielder while Mitchell is sidelined. Blake Perkins is also a candidate to see more at-bats.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Gets going at plate
Mitchell went 6-for-14 (.429) with a double, two RBI, two runs and a 3:4 BB:K over his last five spring games.
Mitchell got off to an 0-for-7 start in the exhibition season, but he seems to have found his swing over the last week-plus. A shoulder injury limited Mitchell to just 19 games in 2023, but he recovered late in the campaign and is fully healthy this spring. The Brewers are still evaluating how to best utilize their group of talented young outfielders, and it's unclear exactly how Mitchell will fit in. However, he brings enough power-speed potential to the table to warrant consideration from fantasy players.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Not on NL Wild Card Series roster
Mitchell is not on the roster for the Brewers' NL Wild Card Series matchup against the Diamondbacks.
Mitchell returned for the final four games of the regular season following a nearly five-month recovery from shoulder surgery, but he went 1-for-7 with three walks and two strikeouts and will not be part of the outfield mix for Milwaukee's best-of-three series versus Arizona. There's no word of any setback, and Mitchell could be reconsidered for a roster spot if the Brewers are able to advance to the NLDS.
