Arias will start in right field and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
He'll stick in the lineup for a fifth consecutive game at a third different position, though right field probably represents his clearest path to playing time now that the Guardians are back to full strength following Jose Ramirez's recent return from bereavement leave. Arias is maintaining a modest .685 OPS for the season, but that's still well ahead of Will Brennan (.558), the Guardians' primary option in right field. Though he's largely served as a short-side platoon mate for Brennan since Oscar Gonzalez was optioned to the minors earlier this month, Arias will draw the start over Brennan on Wednesday with right-hander Michael Kopech on the hill for Chicago.

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Nearly heroic in extra-inning loss
Arias hit a two-run home run in his only at-bat in Friday's 10-9 extra-inning loss to the Mets.
Arias entered the game as a pinch runner for Josh Bell in the seventh inning, and he stayed in as the first baseman. In the 10th, Arias put the Guardians ahead with his two-run homer, only for the Mets to rally for three runs off Emmanuel Clase in the bottom of the frame. Arias has homered in each of the last two games, and he's up to three long balls in 70 plate appearances. Guardians manager Terry Francona announced that Arias left Friday's game against the Cubs with a contusion on his right hand, Mandy Bell of MLB.comreports.
Arias was hit in the same hand that he broke in 2022, but he underwent a scan and everything has come back OK according to Francona.
