  • Diamondbacks' Druw Jones: Clocks first pro homer

Jones went 2-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run, an additional run scored and a stolen base for Single-A Visalia on Thursday.

Jones broke a tie in the top of the ninth inning when he clocked his first professional home run to the deepest part of the ballpark in left-center field. After the second overall draft pick in 2022 had his debut season wiped out due to a shoulder injury, Jones has endured right quad and hamstring issues this season, limiting him to 10 games before he rejoined Visalia earlier this month. He went 0-for-9 in the first three games back, but Jones has hit safely in three straight since, going 5-for-12 with two extra-base hits, two walks and two steals.

  • Diamondbacks' Druw Jones: Activated off minor-league IL

Jones (hamstring) was activated from the 60-day injured list Tuesday at Single-A Visalia, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Jones originally landed on the minor-league injured list way back in April because of a right quad strain and then strained his right hamstring in late July as he embarked on a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League. Selected by the Diamondbacks with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 MLB First-Year Player Draft, the 19-year-old outfielder has appeared in only 22 professional games to date. He'll look to finish strong over what remains of Visalia's schedule before perhaps making up for lost development time with a different affiliate.

  • Diamondbacks' Druw Jones: Rehabbing in rookie ball

Jones (hamstring) has gone 3-for-12 with 1:4 BB:K in four games since beginning a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Aug. 1.

Jones opened the season at Single-A Visalia but hasn't seen any action in the California League since April 19 after sustaining a right quadriceps strain. He was cleared to begin a rehab assignment in the ACL in mid-June, only to be pulled off the assignment after four games when he strained his right hamstring. The 19-year-old is now in the midst of his second rehab assignment in the Complex League and has seemingly avoided any setbacks thus far while making his last three starts in center field. He could be activated from Visalia's 60-day injured list later this week or at some point next week.

  • Diamondbacks' Druw Jones: Goes to 60-day IL

Single-A Visalia transferred Jones (hamstring) from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday.

Jones hasn't played for Visalia since April 19 due to a quadriceps strain but was cleared to begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on June 13. However, he lasted just four games in the ACL before succumbing to a right hamstring strain and being pulled off the assignment. The Diamondbacks have yet to announce a timeline for Jones, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 First-Year Player Draft, to return to action.

  • Diamondbacks' Druw Jones: Return timeline pushed back

Jones (quadriceps) isn't expected to return to game action until at least the middle of July after suffering a right hamstring strain while running the bases last week in a rehab game with the Diamondbacks' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Jones had been on Single-A Visalia's 7-day injured list since April 22 with a right quadriceps strain, and while he didn't aggravate that particular issue while rehabbing in the ACL, the hamstring strain may be a compensation-related injury. In any case, Jones looks like he'll be out of commission at least through the All-Star break, marking the third major setback he's suffered on the health front during his young professional career. In addition to the quad and hamstring injuries, Jones tore the labrum in his left shoulder last July, just three days after he inked a contract that included an $8.19 million signing bonus.

  • Diamondbacks' Druw Jones: Starts rehab in ACL

Jones (quadriceps) began a rehab assignment Tuesday with the Diamondbacks' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate and went 0-for-3 in his first game while playing five innings in center field.

Jones looks to be on the cusp of rejoining Single-A Visalia after spending the better part of two months on the shelf with a right quadriceps strain. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 First-Year Player Draft slashed .175/.283/.200 with a 30.4 percent strikeout rate in 46 plate appearances with Visalia before landing on the 7-day injured list.

  • Diamondbacks' Druw Jones: Lands on IL

Jones was placed on the minor-league 7-day injured list Saturday with a right quadriceps strain, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Jones could be out for a couple of weeks, per Diamondbacks farm director Josh Barfield, who added the injury is not considered serious and that the organization didn't want him trying to play through the injury. Jones, a 2022 second-overall draft pick that underwent shoulder surgery last season, is off to a slow start at Low-A Visalia, going 7-for-40 with a double, six walks and 14 strikeouts.

  • Diamondbacks' Druw Jones: Cleared for start of MiLB season

Jones (shoulder) has been cleared to join Single-A Visalia for the start of the California League season Thursday.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 First-Year Player Draft, Jones didn't make his professional debut last summer after tearing the labrum of his left (non-throwing) shoulder during a batting practice session and requiring surgery. While the 19-year-old Jones looked as though he could be a candidate to remain at extended spring training in Arizona for the start of the California League season, he apparently completed his rehab program without any complications and should be ready to handle an everyday role in the outfield for the Single-A club.

  • Diamondbacks' Druw Jones: On track in recovery

Jones (shoulder) is expected to be ready at or near the start of the minor-league season, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Jones was the second overall pick in last year's draft, then hurt his shoulder taking a swing during his first official workout. In that vein, he follows two other highly regarded prospects -- Corbin Carroll and Jordan Lawlar, both of whom returned to have successful seasons following their shoulder injuries. That leaves general manager Mike Hazen optimistic about Jones in 2023. It's not yet clear where the Diamondbacks plan to place Jones; most affiliates' seasons begin April, but rookie ball kicks off in May.
